She will be arriving on Sunday for the week long activities. Some of the events which all the girls -15 American girl Scouts and 15 Canadian girl Guides will participate participate in are touring Ottawa - visiting the C.N. Tower and the girl Guide headquarters in Toronto - Parkwood House in Oshawa and having a cookout at Darlington Provincial Park. Sounds exciting doesn't it? A good deal of preparation preparation goes into being a hostess. To qualify as a hostess the girls must first fill out an application application form -write an essay stating what they have to contribute- travelling experiences- their girl Guide record- the way Canadian Girl Guides operate-their interests and activities etc. These are presented to a committee and they are assessed as to the best qualified ones to be hostesses. 15 are chosen each year out of hundreds of girls within the large division involved. It is an annual event-one year visiting Pennsylvania, USA - the following year a return visit to Ontario. It is quite an honour to be chosen as a hostess - and we do congratulate Sharon on her achievement. achievement. Theatre at the Academy and saw a live show entitled "Mass Appeal" - a funny and heart warming story about a Parish priest, Father Farley and his young rebellious seminarian, Mark Dolan. A play for people of all faiths - very enjoyable to see. The August meeting will be in the form of a picnic to be held at Cartwright Park Caesarea. We trust all members can attend. Regatta News As the big day approaches (July 30 to Aug. 1st) we'd like to mention the Beauty contest contest for girls 14-20 years, hopefully will have "lots" of beauties entering entering this special feature of the event. Judging will be done by Nancy Prout, Regional Councillor Councillor Lawrence Malcolm and Area Councillor Councillor John Wplters. More next week re- news. Annual Tournament On July 23, the annual Caesarea Golf Tournament Tournament will be held at Sunnybrae Golf and Country Club at Port Perry, commencing at 9:30 a.m. Family Activities Mrs. Millie Thorpe of Edmonton, Alta, is spending a few weeks in Nestleton visiting her grandaughter, Gail and husband Roger Hiemstra and family. Recently she celebrated her 80th birthday and' Gail travelled to Edmonton to help celebrate celebrate then surprised her grandmother Millie with a ticket to Toronto- then home to Nestleton. A baby shower was "hosted" by Cathy Lewerentz of Nestleton, on July 5th at her home-for Sue Oosterholt also of Nestleton, Twenty friends attended and Sue received many lovely, useful gifts for the baby, Delicious refreshments were served at the close and a social time enjoyed. )
