Dave Lawson, president of the Bowmanville Creek Angler's Association, said in an interview with the Ontario Ontario Outdoorsman that a fish ladder is urgently needed to prevent the slaughter of the trout. The fish are unable to jump the 25-foot structure, Mr. Law- son said. Mr. Lawson noted that approximately approximately 350 rainbow trout were lifted over the dam last year, but the Ontario Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources estimates that about 1,000 fish did not get over the dam and were left to be caught by anglers in the pool below the structure. structure. The publication noted that costs of constructing a fish ladder range from between between $40,000 to $50,000 as estimated by the Anglers' Association and between $80,000 and $200,000 as suggested by the Ministry of Natural Resources. While approximately 650 rainbow trout have been placed over the dam during a one-week period beginning beginning April 11 of this year, Mr. Lawson said there are still not enough fish going over the dam. A representative of the Ministry of Natural Resources Resources said that although there won't be a fish ladder this year, the issue is not closed. The Ministry has stated that the most important thing is to find out the carrying carrying capacity of the creek above the dam in order to determine how many fish should be put over it. If there's capacity for another 1,000 trout, then the ladder merits consideration, the Ministry of Natural Resources Resources says. As a special tribute to the late Honorary Colonel R.S.
