The Yelverton team consists of Gloria and Mary McCullough, Wanda Weight- man, Sharon Barr, Janet Gould, Nancy Gould, Michelle Davies, Shelley Malcolm, Cathy Molenar, Angie, Pam Shkreratoff, Debbie Kerr, Judy Symons, Louise Finney, Laurie Armstrong and Mona Malcolm. Congratulations also, to the Jr. Mixed team from Yelver ton coached by Mrs. Gwen Gray which also ended the season in first place, having lost only one game during the season. This has been a real success story and it can be attributed in no small part to Coach Gwen. Last year was the team's first effort in competition and they never won a game all season. Two winning teams from our small community is a real indication of the importance and necessity for a ball field in our community. The wheat crop is maturing much faster than usual and the corn crop particularly on the lighter land is showing adverse effects effects of the drought. This area, however, is suffering much less than areas we recently visited near Picton and in northwestern Ontario which were really critical. The only area we heard of whose problem was quite different, was in Windsor area where they had five inches of rain in a few hours. Marti and Jane Malcolm and Dionne spent this past week with Mitzi and Bob Pick at. their cottage on the South Bay of Haliburton Lake, Corrie and Harvey Malcolm also spent two days there with the family. Miss Mona Malcolm Malcolm spent the past weekend with college friends in Oak ville,Ont. On Saturday evening, Corrie and Harvey Malcolm enjoyed the hospitality of Bridgette and Walter Raez of Myrtle for a BBQ and social evening. Also inspected their brand new Porsche--what a car! We are pleased to have the confirmation of Mr. Lloyd Wilson, Uxbridge, auctioneer, as our guest speaker at our Yelverton United Church Anniversary Anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 25th. This innovation in having someone as guest speaker outside the clergy level and should be a welcome change of pace. Were pleased to read the article by Ms Fairey on Danny Mitchell with accompanying photo -- very interesting.
