She will be articling with the Crown Attorney's office in London, Ontario. BEVERLEY BAZINET Beverley Bazinet, daughter , of Mrs. Beverley and the late Allan Bazinet of Pontypool, graduated from Sir Sandford Fleming College, Peterborough Peterborough with a diploma in the Medical Secretarial course. She is presently employed with Frost Manor in Lindsay. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Curtis of Pontypool and great granddaughter granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Willis of Bowmanville and Mrs. Margaret Curtis of Peterborough. ARCHIE WILLIAM GLENNEY Archie William Glenney of the Village of Newcastle passed passed away suddenly at Bowmanville Bowmanville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 26, 1983. He was in his eightieth year. Born at Janetville Station, Cartwright Township, he was the son of the late Howard and Emma Buckley Glenney. He resided in this area until he was sixteen, where he was a member of Janetville Methodist Methodist Church. In March, 1921, he and his parents and brother Charles moved to a farm half-way between Newcastle and Orono. After he had worked on the family farm for a number of years, he went to the General Motors where he stayed for four years. In 1929, he bought the C.R. Carveth Grain and Feed business, business, including the grain elevator elevator beside the C.N.R. Station at Newcastle. On January 26, 1934, he married Lillian Clemence of R. R. No. 4, Bowmanville (Shaw's). They have one son, Edward, who lives at home. Archie was a member of Newcastle United Church. In earlier years, he was an active member of ' the; Young People's organization of the Church, participating in drama. One of his life's interests was standard bred horses. Helen Zombro won Grand Championships at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, and the Canadian National Exhibition, Exhibition, and was recognized as the National Champion Standard Standard Bred show mare of her day. Later, ■ he raised Virginia's Boy to be one of the best three-year old Pacers of his year. Archie also participated as a horse judge at many Annual Fall Fairs. He was an avid sport fan, especially of baseball and hockey. Another interest which Archie developed was a large, beautiful rose garden which he enjoyed. His last business enterprise was the operation of a gasoline service station which he operated operated until his retirement in October 1981. The funeral' service was held from the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville, July 28, 1983 at 1:00 p.m., the Rev. Donald Stiles officiating. The minister's theme pictured Archie as "a man who tended the roses." Interment Bowmanville Cemeterv. Bearers were: Garnet Rickard, Ken Miller, Ralph Goheen, John Buckley, Jim Ross and Bruce Ross. Senator Jim Coyle is back in town after attending the Shelburne Shelburne Fiddle contest 31 years in a row and he claims it is still the number one event in its field. He was most impressed with the welcome the Rotary and other service clubs extend to visitors and the tremendous amount of work that goes into the contest's production. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Corporation also provides a major assist by broadcasting the Saturday night events from 9:30 to 11 p.m. There was good judging in all classes, including the Open won by Charles Joyce, with Raymond Schryer second and Robert Vallee third. In the 18 and under division, Pierre Schryer was tops, followed by his brother Lewis, with Suzanne Teiller in third spot. Scott Wood won the 12 and under, followed by Davis Jones, Francois Grimard and Donna Hiller. The popular 65 and over class saw Tommy McQuestion was the winner, Alice Urecko, 2nd, Alf Renard 3rd and Ted Day 4th. The Schryer family is coming coming on strong and their piano player provides the accompaniment accompaniment for the whole family. It was another great show, according to Senator Jim, with everybody having a great time. Special mention should be made of the work done by two men, Secretary-Treasurer Ken Gamble and Glen Drury, an old time fiddler who ran the competition; also the step dancers did a great job.
