Bowmanville, August 24.1983 Nestleton - Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Family Activities Six ladies attended the Kawartha Summer Theatre at the Academy in Lindsay recently and saw Toronto bom actress Barbara Hamilton star in the comedy role "Everyone loves Opal." This is the second year she has played in Lindsay Lindsay and is a highly respected actress. Those attending were: Evva Davidge, Bernice Davidge and Ruth Davidge, Williams Point; Minnie Fisher, Caesarea and Elsa Domoney and daughter Elsie from Toronto. Williams Point Crafts are drawing to a close for another year. Their final meeting will be held next Wednesday at the Club taking the form of a party. party. The group of 15-17 have met each Wednesday Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. during July and August. This is the second summer in operation. The Williams Point class wish to extend extend a big thank you to Marg Hall and Pearl Elliot who have taught so many nice crafts - to a very interested group. Recent Sunday guests of Mrs. Minnie Fisher, Caesarea were son Barry and Frances Fisher and daughter Susan of London, Ontario. Using their camper -- recently, Roy and Doris Nottingham, Caesarea and son Jack and Karel Nottingham and John, R.R. 2, Port Perry, had a week's great camping expedition at Round Lake. Roy and Doris Not- tinghalm attended the Kawartha 'Summer Theatre at the Academy in Lindsay on Wednesday Wednesday evening and enjoyed seeing "Springtime for Henry". -- a humorous English production featuring one of Canada's best known actors actors -- Edwin Stephenson Stephenson in the leading role. Victor and Winelda Malcolm, Nestleton, had an enjoyable holiday travelling about this past week. On Monday they viewed Niagara Falls -- then -- a real "highlight" was seeing the Point Pelee National Park with the Game Preserve, travelling in by train -- this is one.of Canada's beauty spots. Later in the week they spent a couple of days with Mrs. Roy (Olivia) Wright at her lovely home in Windsor -- arriving back home Saturday evening. A full week of interesting acitivity! Visiting the Cawker homestead on Sunday were Syl Cawker and Mrs. M. Twamley of Toronto and Mr. Ken Bragg of Bowmanville. Chandre Cawker who has been holidaying for a week with Sam and Mabel Cawker returned home with her mother. We shall miss her very much -- our little farmerette -- so pleasant in her ways. We appreciate appreciate the friendliness of the Brygman girls -- Rosie, Cindy and Sophie very much. Chandre enjoyed enjoyed their company and hoped to stay longer and have the girls down to the farm for a visit. Perhaps next time! Pat and Mike Dearborn, Dearborn, Paul, Stephen and Pitch-In Ontario! Kevin, Scugog Point, attended attended a family picnic on Sunday afternoon in Orono Park, with approximately approximately forty on hand to enjoy the get- together. This was Pat's grandmothers' side of the family. A pot-luck supper was enjoyed between between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. -- then races and a baseball game for the avid sports fans was a highlight. Prizes were given as well. A fine reunion! Nestleton United Church Decoration Service A capacity attendance at the Nestleton United Church Decoration Service Service on Sunday, 2:30 p.m. Many folks had the pleasure of renewing old friendships before and after the service. Guest speaker- Mr. Stephen Saywell, minister of St. Stepehen's Church in Oshawa delivered a fine message at this special remembrance day -- his theme was taken from Psalm 90. He was introduced introduced by Mr. Ralph Sadler, Board Chairman. Rev. Harry Atkinson, soloist, who needs no introduction- an old and valued friend of the Nestleton community gave an inspiring rendition rendition of two sacred numbers "Beside Still Waters" and "Hear My Cry, 0 Lord," accompanied accompanied by our capable organist Mrs. Gwendolyn Gwendolyn Malcolm. We thank Harry for his gift of song "Faith of Our Fathers" added a final touch to a meaningful service. Appreciation is expressed expressed to all those who had a part in this splendid splendid day of memory. Special mention re- Robt. Mairs who arranged the order of service bulletins and to our excellent caretaker of the cemetery- Arnold Williams -- it was perfect in every way -- our sincere thanks! Caesarea Community Church On Sunday, August 21 -- 11 a.m. the Caesarea church had an excellent attendance with an interesting interesting service conducted conducted by the minister, Rev. W.H. Crawford. He used as his sermon topic "Can God Live In You?" the text taken from Col- ossians I. Mrs. G. Cameron sang in her usual style "Jesus Lover of My Soul" -- an old Welsh tune -- Charles Wesley -1707-1788. Mrs. Crawford- organist. The Vacation Bible School is doing well and will be held until the 26th - 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Sunshine Sunshine Club commences in September. Warmest wishes to our friend George Bowers who has been in Port Perry Hospital for some days, but hopes to be home soon. A carload of Blue Ray Chapter members attended attended the Eastern Star service held in Stouffville last Friday evening in memory of the late Sister Agnes Wallace, Past District Deputy Grand Matron of District II. Sympathy to Brother Bill Wallace and family. She will be missed by many Eastern Star members -- especially, Sympathy to the family family of the late Della Argue -- a former neighbour and good friend. Left to mourn are- daughter Doris and sons Morris and Harry. With the waning of summer -- Fair time is fast approaching in this area, This coming Saturday, Saturday, August 27th, our local fair at Blackstock will get under way with many attractions -- a one day event but packed packed full of interesting activities. activities.
