) I Cadet Lost in F orest From Page One another, and sleeping no more than two hours at a time, Mark used his arms to wrap his body for warmth. He had set off earlier in the day wearing only a thin shirt, light vest and cord jeans. When daybreak arrived, the lad again tried to flag down a motorist. This time he was successful. Ed Banks of Haydon, a member of Mark's church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was on his way to the Ganaraska Forest to join a search which was organizing. It was a scene of jubilation at the campsite when Mr. Banks arrived with his find. Mark's mother Pam Fenton credits her son's safe return to his religious training which includes includes an intense study of survival techniques, in particular wilderness wilderness survival. When Pam and Norman Fenton first learned their son was lost they were understandably distraught. However, they were somewhat mystified mystified by the event knowing that Mark was intimately familiar with woodland survival. The parents greatest concern was that Mark was hurt somewhere and unable to use the survival whistle he was wearing. Indeed, the boy had apparently blown the whistle repeatedly but nobody heard it. Reflecting on the experience Monday, Mrs. Fenton praised the more than 125 searchers who rallied rallied to the occasion. Most of them, she explained, were members of the Church of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from Peterborough, Peterborough, Pickering, Cobourg, Oshawa and Bowmanville. Mrs. Fenton said the emotional climax of the experience came not when she learned that her son had been found but when he walked through the door of the house. "You have no idea how much they (Mark) mean to you until they're gone," she stated. But everything was back to normal normal Monday when Mark returned to classes at Bowmanville Senior Public School. A little overwhelmed overwhelmed by the attention the incident incident created, he stated, "It was nothing nothing really--but I'm glad it was a mild night Saturday. Thomas N. "The beauty of our 'Flexcom' program is that it offers a no-risk opportunity for agents to experiment with full commission options without without having to change offices and companies. As far as we know, we are the first major company in Canada to offer this opportunity and freedom of choice to the sales agents," says Robert Shea, Vice President President of the Company. We appreciate that the introduction introduction of 'Flexcom' will lower our profit margins but we expect this reduction in earning potential to be offset by steady progress in attracting attracting good agents who want to take advantage of the opportunities opportunities that we can offer at Family Trust, stated Tom Shea. Our studies indicate that these choices are being sought by more and more good agents and we are responding to their need. We are confident our share of the market will expand expand with the implementation of the 'Flexcom' system. Family Trust has over 600 employees and operates 29 real estate sales offices in and around the metropolitan area, in addition to mortgage and trust services. f= Pulsar» Quartz Telephone Books Available October 7th The introductory pages of the phone book have been redesigned, giving the public what Bell Canada says is a TYRONE Over sixteen tables of euchre were in play at the Community Centre on Friday evening, Sept. 30, 1983, with the following results: 1st Lance Phare, 2nd Marion McKeen, 3rd Clarence Bell, 4th Harold Burgess, 5th Carl Gimblett, 6th Edith Clemens. "This year's cover is a fiery explosion of orange and yellow, representing fibre optics, the hair-thin strands of glass used to transmit data, voice and video communications," says Orma Lyttle, local Bell manager. "We expect people will find it easier to locate and read information in the introductory section because of the new format," says Mrs. Lyttle. "One part deals with customer service, another- with finding numbers, local and long distance calling and a final one with the federal rules which govern Bell."
