The Wilmot Creek development will be constructed close to the lake and will include 860 single-family homes, plus recreation facilities such as a swimming pool, tennis court, fitness gymnasium, and a nine-hole golf course. Construction is expected to begin this fall. At the moment only the reception building and four model homes have been constructed. Newcastle neighbors Judge E.R. Lovekin and MPP Sam Cureatz discuss the project with Mayor Garnet Rickard at rear. The attractive and functional kitchen in one of the model homes attracted considerable attention. The main reception building contained illustrations showing the two other Rice retirement home projects in the Barrie and Grand Bend areas.
