The Community Corners group began with a season of crafts and quilting and friendship. An autumn color tour of the leaves was taken on October 4th with afternoon tea enjoyed at Greenwood Towers in Port Hope. On Tuesday, October 18th, another trip was enjoyed into Ingles House, a church sponsored home in Toronto for B women. Gifts lade by Community Comers were given to these young ladies. The Young Women's group meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the church. They are sponsoring a demonstration of Christmas Floral Creations on Tuesday, November 15th - 7:30 p.m. in the Great Hall. Refreshments will be served. Admission $2. and everyone is welcome. The Martha Group meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesday, 8 p.m. New members are welcomed. If interested please contact Mrs. R. Beetles or Mrs. P. Homigold. The Joanna group meet the 1st Monday of the month and the October meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Trudy Heffer. The November meeting will be a Work Meeting at the church preparing and making Christmas favorites for the Sunday School classes' Christmas concert. The Rummage Sale, held on Thursday, October 20th, was a great success; many thanks to everyone who assisted in any way. The useful clothing articles from this sale go into Toronto Inner city parish All- Saints-Council Fire - assisting our native people through the Outreach programme. The Take-a-Break group will be meeting Tuesday mornings at 9:30 a.m. with monthly co-ordinators volunteering volunteering to take charge of the programming. The church calendars for 1984 are now available at $2.50 each and make an excellent gift. The funds raised from sale of these go toward supporting the Parish Newspaper of the church. Betty Nichols is selling the calendars. The Deanery Quiet Day was held on October 13th from 10 - 3 p.m. The Rt. Rev. Desmond Hunt, Regional Bishop, was the guest speaker for the occasion. ACW groups throughout the Deanery attended and it was a very inspirational and rewarding day. Mrs. Isabelle Elliott, Deanery Director, arranged the event. The ladies of St. John's Martha and Joanna groups were the hostesses. The Harvest Dinner and Dance was held in the Centennial Hall on Saturday, October 29th. A pleasant evening was enjoyed by all. The Toronto Diocesan Council Meeting for A.C.W. was held on Saturday, October 15th at St. Paul's, Bloor St. Those attending from St. John's were Mrs. Isabelle Elliott, Mrs. R. Betties, Mrs. B. Blake, Miss M. Crowe and Mrs. A. Halliday. A Bible Seminar was also held at St. Paul's on October 1st. There was a wide variety of workshops workshops led by well known autnprities. The Bishops' Breakfast and Bible Study was held on Mr. Dressup Returns for Oshawa Show Two versatile children's entertainers will be visiting Oshawa this month during a concert sponsored by the Building Blocks Co-operative Co-operative Preschool. On Sunday, November 13, there will be shows at one p.m. and three p.m. by Winnipeg Winnipeg musician Fred Fenner. Fenner. This will be followed by a performance by Mr. Dress- Up on Saturday, November 19, at one p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Both performances will take place at the.Eastdale Collegiate Auditorium. Tickets are available from the Thomas House of Music, in Whitby, or from Old English Brass, in Oshawa, Saturday, October 8 at 8 a.m. in the Holiday Inn, Oshawa, with Bishop Hunt speaking. The Evening Bible Study is held weekly in homes and in the Upper Room of the church. At present the Book of Colos- sians is being studied. The Deanery Workshop Day was Saturday, October 22nd at St. Peter's, Cobourg, with workshops for the Chancel Guild, Sunday School Teachers, Communications for Couples, and Changes in the Church led by Dr. Eugene Fairweather of Trinity College, Toronto and Columnist in the Anglican newspaper. St. John's was well represented. The Outreach Committee is once again sponsoring the sale of UNICEF cards at the Bowmanville Mall during the month of November. The Victorian Order of Nurses Friendly Visitors Program has asked for volunteers volunteers from our parish to assist in visiting individuals once a week. Please contact 591-3151 if interested. The Youth of All Saints, Peterborough, sponsored a Youth Conference from Friday, October 21 - Sunday, October 23. The theme being Exploration of our relationships with God and growing in faith and understanding. A conference for men of the church was held October 28-30 at Geneva Park, Oshawa. The speaker was Rev. Richard Tanner. The theme was FLAME (Fellowship, Learning Anglican Men's Enrichment) Conference. This event was arranged by Mr. Steve Smith. The Advisory Board Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 8 p.m. in the Parish Hall, discussing and planning the business of the church. New sidewalks have been completed around the church and rectory. A yard light was installed in the church yard; removal of the rusty wire fence along the southern boundary. Other numerous projects are in the planning stages. The sale of the 150th anniversary plates and silver spoons' sales are being promoted through church groups. Anyone wishing these lovely items for gifts may do so by contacting the church office. The last Sunday of the month is Food Fund Sunday and has been generously supported and in turn goes to the Salvation Army for dispersal in the area. A meeting for the Prayer Chain group was held Wednesday, October 26. This being a group of dedicated ladies who have been active in this service for sometime. The Fall season for badminton began in October. For information contact Mrs. V. Langley. The Men's Fall dinner meeting will be in the Great Hall 6 p.m., Tuesday, November 22. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Norman Martin of Perrytown parish. White Gift Sunday will be observed Sunday, November 20th. The children are also asked to bring gifts of toys, books and canned foods and non-perishable foods, to be forwarded to less fortunate children for Christmas season. The Sunday School schedule of classes for November to attend the 11 a.m. church service is: Nov. 6th - 7 and 8 yr. olds, Nov. 13th - 3 and 4 yr. olds, Nov. 20th - 9,10,11 and 12 yrs. Nov. 27th - 5 and 6 yr. olds. The choir practices are held for senior choir: Thursday-7-9 p.m. Sunday-10-10:35 a.m. Junior Choir: Tuesday-3:30-5:30p.m. Mrs. Sylvia Amesbury is the choir leader and church organist and she would greatly welcome new members to join the choir. On Sunday, October 23rd 11 a.m. was service of Holy Baptism. There were six baptisms. The Rev. Robert Mansfield was guest preacher and assisted with the baptism of his grandson. November is Remembrance Month, also our church shares through contributions to the Primate's World Relief and Development Fund during November.
