On Tuesday Oct. 25th, the McGregor Hardware Bantams Bantams traveled to Orono. What might sound like a one-sided hockey game, in Orono's favour, was in reality a rather well played affair. Orono, having been stopped on numerous occasions by both defence and goaltending, finally put one past Burke Lush with 2:47 left in the first period. A steady skating and scoreless scoreless second period produced both dramatic and exciting plays at both ends. In the third, size finally paid off as Orono was able to put one past Darrin Bunker to make it 2 - 0, As the period wound down, Troy Harness, having been called up from the second team, picked up the puck in his own end and weaved through Orono's team to score Bowmanville's only goal. Orono, not to be outdone, just 50 seconds later finished the scoring with passing play to end the game 3 -1. Sat. Oct. 29th, saw Pickering Pickering enter the Darlington arena and skate off with a well deserved 6-1 victory. Nov. 12 against Port Perry. By R. Edmunds After six weeks of play, only Shoppers Drug Mart and The Flying Dutchmen remain undefeated undefeated in the Bowmanville Non-Contact Hockey League. Flying Dutchmen and Clinic Pharmacy squared off in their first meeting of this season and the Dutchmen were hard pressed to hold on to a narrow 6 - 5 victory. Clinic, playing with intensity were able to keep the Dutchmen in check until Jim Smith, with his first of two, put his team ahead to stay at the 14 second mark of the final frame, John Mather also had a pair while Paul Bycok and Doug Taylor netted singletons. George Hillis and Pat Murdoch each had two and Paul Hoy one for the Clinic. Courtice Auto Wreckers appeared headed for their first victory of the season until penalties were to prove costly.
