Holly Day" fund-raiser on Lung Association Plans "Holly Day" Campaign The Christmas Seal Campaign takes on a seasonal look this Saturday, as local Lung Association volunteers turn out in force for their annual "Holly Day" fundraiser. fundraiser. On Saturday, December 10th, fresh B.C. holly will be distributed at shopping malls in Oshawa, Bowmanville, Ajax, Pickering and Whitby. Port Perry volunteers will be working through local banks, trust companies and grocery stores. The holly is available bagged for $2.00, or as loose sprigs distributed in return for contributions to the Christmas Seal Campaign. Durham Holly Day Chairman, Betty DesRochers, is confident that funds raised this year will top the 1982 total. "This is only the third year that we have participated in Holly Day" she says "and each year public demand for our holly increases." Fresh holly is the ideal Christmas decoration, with its shiny green leaves and bright red berries adding an authentic touch to an Ontario Christmas becoming increasingly plastic. AH funds raised on Holly Day will support local Lung Association programs, which will assist victims of asthma, emphysema and lung cancer. Advance orders can be taken by calling 723-3151. Many, many little folk were delighted with their visit with Santa. A former resident of this area Mr. Wm. Ferguson of Oshawa passed away over the weekend. Many from this area called to pay respects at the Port Perry Funeral Chapel on Sunday and attended the funeral on Monday. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Ferguson, to his daughter Faye (Mrs. Harold Collins) of Peterborough and' son Gary of Oshawa, his grandchildren as well as to the many local relatives. relatives. On Saturday evening Nora Little was guest of honour at a surprise birthday party at the home of her sister, Linda and Doug McMillan McMillan of Prince Albert, happy Birthday Nora. Another year really doesn't make that much difference, now does it? Many folks stopped by the Recreation Centre on Saturday to support the first Cartwright Ladies' Auxiliary Flea Market. The Auxiliary would like to thank everyone who helped make this event such a great success. Judy Reader has completed completed her canvass of part of Blackstock for the Canadian Diabetes Association.
