Welcomes Guests at Dec. Meeting The December meeting of Solina W.I. began with a pot luck supper in the hall with the Village Group being hostesses. hostesses. There were approximately approximately 70 in attendance including including W. I. members and husbands, 4-H girls and their leaders and several other guests from the community. After supper, Mrs. C. Lang- maid, president called the meeting to order and we sang the carol "Joy to the World." Mrs. J. Watson was then called on for the program. The Motto "Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace and good will toward men" was given by Mrs. Dorothy Pascoe. She read a poem "Now is the time of Christmas" Christmas" and also the story of Christmas.-We sang two more carols that coincided with the Motto. A skit "Twas the Night before Christmas back on the Farm" was narrated by Mrs. D. Taylor and the parts of the cows, the farmer, Santa's sleigh being pulled by cows and Santa Claus were well portrayed by the others in the group. Pastor Erb favored us with a piano solo of Christmas music. The group then performed performed another skit "The Plight before Christmas", detective Ellery Queen story. The meeting was then taken by the President. After the minutes, treasurer's report and correspondence were read by Mrs. W. Hills, asst, secretary, the business was dealt with. Mrs. M. Vice gave a report on the gifts which had been purchased for Christmas for some who are not out as much as they used to be. Mrs. R. Rowsell read a letter which she had written to Kevin Taylor who was unable to be present to receive a silver tray which the W.I. award to young people upon the completion of 18 agricultural agricultural clubs in 4-H. Kevin's dad, Mr. Bruce Taylor, accepted accepted the gift on behalf of Kevin. Mrs. R. Rowsell then read a letter to Natalie Koczulab who had received Provincial Honors in 4-H Homemaking. Natalie was also unable to be present so her gift is being delivered. The meeting closed with singing "Silent Night." We wish everyone at the Statesman office a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and all the best for 1984.
