These four candles were extinguished as Mrs. Mildred Muir told how we often fail to put forth a genuine effort in these four areas of our witness, study, fellowship and service. Greta then lit the candles again as Mrs. Doreen Metcalf recalled how we have carried out these four thèmes in the past and how we can rededicate ourselves to God's work in the coming year. We all repeated our U.C.W. purpose followed by offering and the singing of "Joy To The World." Greta spoke of how we belong belong to the Family of God and also to our Earthly Families. First our parents, brothers, sisters and then when we marry we are adopted into yet another family. She then call- r,°u her /'I e sisters-Biâw to take part. First, Mrs. uut,,, Down read a couple of humorous humorous poems and Mrs. Marg Down read a Christmas story. A trio comprised of Greta, Mrs. Jean Osborne and Mrs. Eileen Down accompanied by Eileen favored us with two songs "The First Noel" and "Up On The Rooftops." Mrs. Margaret Down read minutes of a Christmas meeting meeting from a 1914 W.M.S. secretary secretary book that she had come across recently. She also read additional excerpts of meetings meetings over the years. It was especially interesting to hear about some of our present members taking part in the programs. Margaret read a poem that tied us in to our Holy Family "The Road to Bethlehem." Ebenezer U.C.W. met on Tuesday, Dec. 13th at 1:30 p.m. with 29 in attendance. President Mrs. Eileen Down opened our Christmas meeting meeting with the singing of the first verse of "O Come All Ye Faithful." She also showed us a child's version of the Christmas story that her granddaughter Melissa Donnelly had drawn while visiting here recently from Kamloops. Our secretary, Mrs. Kay Mackie, read the minutes and correspondence. We all paused for a minute's silence in memory of Mrs. Florence Annis, a U.C.W. life member who passed away recently. Though her active community life slowly decreased, decreased, her interest and love for Ebenezer never changed. Mrs. Margaret Down read the nominating report and called on our pastor Rev. Mark Elliott to install the officers. Eileen told that she and Lloyd had delivered a table, four chairs and a sewing machine from our congregation congregation to the South Oshawa Community Development Project. We are catering to Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Aldsworth's 50th anniversary open house on Dec. 17th. Our congratulations and best wishes for a very happy 50th to you both from the Ebenezer community. Our executive meeting will be held Jan. 11th and our General meeting on Jan. 24th. The pennies for the least coin were gathered and dedicated. dedicated. The meeting was then turned turned over to Mrs. Greta Down for a very meaningful candle lighting Christmas devotional. Instead of lighting candles to depict peace, hope, love and joy, Greta broke her devotional devotional into four areas of our U.C.W. purpose, of witness, study, fellowship and service, Greta lit each candle as Mrs. Rae Osborne and Mrs. Gwen Muir related the first Christ Easton's Gulf and Pinegrove Cheese House Hwy. 115 and 35 (1 mile North of 401 j We have many Christmas gifts for you.
