! Elizabeth ville We cancelled our senior citizens get-together on Thursday as the hall parking lot wouldn't be ploughed after the storm and there was no bingo at night either. On Friday, the World's Day of Prayer for this area was held at Perrytown Anglican Church. The regular program ' was followed. Miss Ona ■ Garden was the leader. ; Welcome, Canton, and Garden ' Hill assisted. Mrs. Elizabeth ; Gray sang and Mrs. Cruise played. Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Gardiner, Mrs. Wheeler, Mrs. , Trew, and Mrs. Peacock attended. Mrs. M. Davis lead : for the Garden Hill part. 1 Church services on Sunday ; were very well attended. Rev. 1 Rutherford spoke on the life of t Job, taken from Job 1, a story of a good man who suffers r total disaster. In three series of dialogues, the auther tells „ „ how Job and his friends react. - 1 Since God always rewards good and punishes evil, Job's friends assume he has sinned but Job doesn't think so. God doesn't answer his questions, ' but He does respond to Job's faith by overwhelming him with his power and wisdom. The choir sang. Mr. Banister was at the door. Coffee was served as usual. On Tuesday, the Women's Institute met at Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mercer's home. We had a good crowd out. The president, Mrs. Barkwell, presided. The roll call was "Name a needed local improvement!" improvement!" Motto - "Is it worthwhile to make a resolution?" resolution?" The minutes were read and approved. The secretary, Mrs. Beatty, read the letters of business. Mrs. Ken Trew brought a full report from the district meeting. There will be no dinner to raise funds but each member will send a dollar to the district and the district annual will be May 17th at Bailieboro, dinner to cost $3.15. We are asked to ' send jams, jellies, honey, etc. to the bazaar at Erland Lee's homestead in June when it is open for branches to visit. There is to be a bus from the district if anyone would like to go. Officer's conference will be May 1, 2, and 3 at Waterloo. We had no resolutions. Mrs. Lottie White was presented with a life membership pin. Plans for our last euchre party at the library on March 20th. Note the date as I made a mistake in last week's news. The meeting was turned over to Mrs. C. Mercer and Mrs. Edna Morris discussed the radium that escapes in the air when workers work in chemical chemical labs. In fact, the late Mr. Morris worked with radium for many years before he died with cancer. A contest followed by Mrs. Thickson. Our next meeting is dinner at the Legion with meeting following at Mrs. Lottie White's home in Port Hope. Our district president will attend. A nominating committee will meet before . the next meeting. Lunch was served at the close. On Wednesday, the Cobourg Presbytery held their Spring rally at Warkworth. Mrs. Peacock and Mrs. Trew assisted assisted with the program along with some from Welcome. Mrs. Gray sang. A good turnout turnout from Hope charge attended. attended. Mrs. Jean Jones and group were in charge of the program. program. The Millbrook Legion Banjo Band entertained with their toe tapping music which everyone enjoyed. Art Thorne told a few of his jokes.
