Simcoe Lions now travel to Elmira to play for the overall A grand championship including including the M.T.H.L., N.O.H.A. and the host team of Woolwich. Woolwich. We wish them much success in their endeavor. The game was very fast speed and the boys played . their best with a lot of heart, coming close on several occasions occasions but couldn't get the puck past the Simcoe net minder. They can certainly be proud of the fact that out of 28 teams across southern and eastern Ontario they were the second best of the year. Their record this season is very impressive and indicates the high calibre of the term. They played 71 games with 56 wins, nine losses and six ties. They scored 407 goals and had only 157 scored against giving the goalies Smith and Webster a _2.2 average on the season!! The team entered five tournaments, tournaments, winning three and losing two. Brian Noble was the top gunner for the team with 97 goals and 100 plus assists! Many people were involved in making it a great winter for the team, both on and off the ice and the players wish to extend many thanks again to the Flying Dutchman for their great sponsorship, John James and the "Statesman" for their super coverage, the town merchants involveid in the "Player of the Week" award, Charterways who supplied the bus for the trip to Simcoe and last but not least the fantastic fans who supported supported the team all season. In closing, I would like to say thank you to each and Council Ontario should become officially bilingual, according according to a resolution passed by the city of Vanier, Ontario. Ontario. Volunteer Week has been set for April 22 to April 28, while Senior Citizens' Week will be observed June 17 to June 23.
