Mrs. Wylma Allin, President President of Newcastle society welcomed the guests and called on Mayor Rickard to bring greetings from the town of Newcastle. Mrs. Margaret Beath, sec.- treas. of the district gave out the financial reports, and the secretaries for the various societies - gavtin'thc yearly accounts of activities. Our district is made up of 12 societies, Ajax, Beaverton, Beaverton, Bowmanville, Brooklin, Brooklin, Cannington, Georgina, Brock Twp., Orono, Oshawa, Newcastle, Pickering, Pine Ridge (Nestleton), and Uxbridge. The very first society was started in Toronto in 1834 and that's 150 years ago! For many years the agriculture and horticulture worked together but in 1906 went their separate ways. The President encouraged encouraged all to "look to a bright future" and direct our efforts to a genuine "love of nature" in all our gardening efforts. A presentation was given the speaker. .
