The cooperation of the "weather lady" in providing no rain contributed to the success. Hats off to the Barbecue Brigade whose tireless efforts during the afternoon and evening in the discomfort of the excessive heat of the pit providing tasty pork chops and ribs should not go unrecognized. The Yelverton U.C.W. ladies as usual did their super best in arranging the meal and providing such a sumptuous BETHANY NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Don Rees of Kamloops, B.C. cousins of Mrs. Tom Jennings, were visiting visiting for a few days and now have left for a trip to the East Coast. We appreciate their attendance and the assistance of former residents who also dug in to make the day a success. Sorry to learn of the passing of Miss Ruth Prout of Nestleton who was a dedicated member of her church and community. She served for many years as Sect, of the Ladies Presbyterian organization. Mr. Carl Johnson is hobbling around with crutches following an accident which injured one of his knee caps. Best wishes to Ernestine Robinson on her retirement in June from her duties with the Durham Region Board of Education after many years of service. Mr. Darryl Robinson has forsaken our community and is currently employed near Ottawa with one of those "noname" "noname" feed companies. Best wishes for success in his new venture. A number from this community attended the wedding dance of Ion and Linda Page on Saturday evening at the Lindsay Legion Hall. An enjoyable dance was held with music supplied by Irvin Smith of Port Perry. Prior to the dance a sumptuous wedding dinner was held for Linda and Ion's immediate family and close friends. Miss Betty Whittaker is returning to her home in Hamilton on Monday following a 2 week holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Malcolm. Local area readers particularly enjoyed the many photos that were carried in last week's Bowmanville Statesman - the excellent coverage of the Manvers Arts and Crafts Show with photos of many local residents, Mrs. Ernestine Robinson and her colleagues retirement party with its photos and last but not least - the 3 horse team that graced the front page of the second section showing 2 geldings and 1 mayor. No Garnet, I didn't say 3 geldings, however much I was tempted to do so. s Specials Monday, June 18th to Saturday, June 23rd New Snack Size 350g Flavoured -- Biscuits 12.3 oz.
