I The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, July 25, 1984 9 Wage Limits Defeated Pingle Family Hold Annual Picnic >, midway midway midway midway midway An unexpected motion to limit the salaries of regional government employees to no more than a $1 per hour increase was hastily defeated at a meeting of regional council in Whitby last week. Council vetoed the suggestion by 24-2 before retiring for a summer recess. Councillor Ed Kolodzie and Councillor Doug Wilson introduced the resolution which would have limited limited all staff wage increases in 1985. But the motion was defeated as quickly as its movers placed it on the floor for discussion. It was virtually the last piece of legislation to be considered by the Regional Municipality of Durham before the summer recess. The fifth annual Pingle Picnic was well attended at Uncle Bud's cottage on Stoney Lake on July 14 and 15.
