Family Newsworthy Items Good friends, Stafford and Bessie Cosway of Brooklin, were guests with Sam and Mabel Cawker at the farm, Scugog Point Rd. on Wednesday - a most enjoyable visit! Alan and Eleanor Cawker. of Oshawa were Monday evening guests. An old friend - Charles Nesbit of St. Christopher, dropped in for a visit on Thursday. Always pleased to see him. Mrs. Vivian Weather- all of Oshawa, spent a few days last week with her brother and wife, Ralph and Lèona Sadler of Nestleton. Mr. and Mrs. L. Slemon and Mr. and Mrs. E. Trewin of Haydon had tea with the Sadlers recently. This past weekend, daughter Gloria and Ian Scott, Charles and Jennifer of Corbyville, were guests with Ralph and Leona Sadler. Card Night On Wed. evening a larger attendance again due to the cooler weather. The results are as follows: First prize winner - Doris Rohrer - 82; Second prize - Freda Wingrove - with 80; Low score - Mary Thomas - 42. A pleasant evening with refreshments and a social hour after. Again this Wednesday at the Centre, for a little diversion. Beat Wishes Our "very best wishes" for better health to little 4 year old Casey Panchuk, son of Larry and Betty Panchuk Panchuk of R.R.l, Nestleton. Nestleton. Casey has been a patient in Sick Children's Children's Hospital but is now at home and improving. Also "warmest wishes" to friend, Daisy McNeely who has returned home from Port Perry Hospital but isn't too well. We trust for much better health in the near future. Sympathy Very sorry to hear of the death of a neighbour, neighbour, Mr. Julian Stoch of R.R.l, Nestleton this past week. Our condolences condolences to his grieving wife and family. Congratulations Claire and Leslie MacKenzie of Nestleton, had a successful show with their ponies at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto this past week. Our warmest congratulations congratulations to the girls! Nestleton United Church The sun shone brightly brightly for the church service at Nestleton United on August 26 -with some forty worshippers just getting back to normal after the month long holiday break. Lovely flowers graced the sanctuary sanctuary arranged by Bernice Bernice Mairs from her garden. The choir anthem was an old favourite - a quartet sang "In the Garden" with organist Gwen Malcolm leading. Rev. Dale Davis in good form after the holiday - presented a timely message based on passages from Exodus 17 and Matthew 4. The children came to the front and enjoyed the interesting story. A meaningful Hymn closed the service. Next Sunday at 11:15 a.m. Caesarea Community Church A very good attend ance on Sunday morning morning at the Caesarea church. Mrs. Gretel Cameron sang a general favourite "I Believe" with Tracy Blayone from Manchester accompanying on the piano. Rev. W.H. Crawford Crawford preached on "expect the Miracle" from Acts 3: 5 - stressing stressing the idea if we have faith we will receive. Next Sunday for a warm welcome. Wedding Vows Exchanged On Saturday afternoon afternoon a lovely wedding was solemnized in Caesarea Caesarea Church when Randolph Randolph Bruce, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Bruce Ewart of Caesarea exchanged exchanged marriage vows with Christine Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ingram. The officiating clergyman was Rev. W.H. Crawford Crawford D.D. and the wedding wedding music was played by Mrs. Bonnie Ballingal of Scugog Island. Very best wishes to this young couple for happiness! happiness! Congratulations Congratulations to the Blackstock Fair Board for another successful fair this past Saturday with many activities of interest for all ages. This is the 119th annual Fair for the "folks" of Cartwright and we do commend them for a fine effort! Will Appear in Musical Mrs. Gretel Cameron of Caesarea and Oshawa will be appearing appearing in the Oshawa Little Theatre Musical entitled "Music Ten" - a review of teh years of musicals they have produced produced such as South Pacific, Guys and Dolls, Kiss Me Kate and many others. Dates for this fine musical will be September 6,7,8,13,14, and 15 at Little Theatre, 62 Russett St. in Oshawa. Tickets are available at Saywell's Store, 14 Simcoe South, Oshawa, Ph. 728-8821. Bicentennial Tea Of Interest . Ontario South District Women's Institutes will be "hosting" a "come and go" Bicentennial Tea, bake and craft table and display of Tweedsmuir Histories to be held at the Municipal Hall in Port Perry on Tuesday, September September 11 from 2 - 4p.m. All ladies who can, are asked to wear an old fashioned gown for the occasion. This is most important for Curators in charge of Histories. The public is cordially invited to attend. See notice in the Port Perry Star.
