The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, October 10,1984 Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary 9/tice - Jackson Sherida Catherine Eleanor Jackson and David Wayne Price were united in marriage on Saturday, August 11th, 1984 in Hampton United Church by the Reverend M.R. Thomson. The organist was Mr. Ashton McMasters and Mr. Ross Metcalf was the soloist. The bride's parents are Joe and Eleanor Jackson of R.R. 1, Bowmanville. Parents of the groom are Walter and Helen Knox, Oshawa. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was radiant in a formal gown of white chiffon. The high neckline and yoke were accented with crocheted European lace. The fitted sleeves and Southern Belle skirt were etched in Chantilly lace. To complete her ensemble, the bride wore a matching headpiece which held a romance length veil with scattered seed pearls and she carried a bouquet of wild flowers, dusty rose roses, pink apple blossoms, burgundy tiger lilies and white daisies intertwined with ivy from her mother's wedding bouquet. The maid of honor, Shelda Jackson, sister of the bride and the bridesmaids Debbie Taylor and Sherry Mahaffy were gowned alike in dusty rose with matching pearl beaded cap headpieces and carried baskets of wild flowers. The flower girl, Crystal Nicol, niece of the bride, was adorable in a knee length white eyelet gown with rose sash and basket of similar flowers. The groom was handsomely attired in a white tuxedo with a boutonniere of burgundy tiger lilies. Best man, Wayne Hawthorne and the ushers Ray McQuaid and Mark Ross wore grey tuxedos accented with burgundy tiger lilies. Following the ceremony, pictures were taken on the lawn of the bride's parents. Receiving the guests at the reception, the bride's mother wore a formal gown of azure blue. A matching lace and seed pearl cap held a finger tip veil and she carried a bouquet of white orchids, roses and lily of the valley. The matron of honor was Mrs. Rosemary Dubyk (nee Kennedy), Mississauga and the bridesmaid Miss Connie Knight, sister of the bride were gowned alike in taffeta gowns of lilac. The flower girls, Misses Amanda and Melissa Knight, nieces of the bride, were gowned in full length white eyelet gowns, sashed with lilac ribbons. Bouquets of white carnations with mauve and pink roses and baby's breath were carried by all the bridal attendants. best man was Mr. Mann, Little Britain, and the ushers were Mr. Ross Caradonna, Etobicoke and Mr. Rick Knight, brother of the bride. The bride's mother received the guests at a reception held at Centennial Hall, Bowmanville in a formal oatmeal silk suit. The groom's mother assisted in receiving in a formal gown of light blue. Telephone 623-2312 Tyrone News George and Dunreath Walton Newcastle Community Hall was beautifully decorated on Sunday, Sept. 30th for a reception marking the 50th wedding anniversary of George and Dunreath Walton. Three members of their 1934 wedding party, bridesmaid Mrs. Helen Nesbitt, groomsman Aldred Graham and usher Stanley Graham were, present to make it quite a unique occasion. Newcastle Lioness Club members catered for the reception and later the UCW ladies catered for a dinner attended by relatives and friends. Many cards and gifts were received by the happy couple who were delighted to welcome friends and relatives from White Rock, B.C.,. Regina, Sask., Toronto, Mississauga, Orono, Belleville, Trenton, Port Hope, Orillia, Oshawa, Bowmanville and Scarborough, as well as Newcastle. School Board Briefs Miss Kim Vaneyk has done some fine work in local Tractor Tractor Pulls this season. In five competitions, pulling in the "open" 7500 lb. class, Kim has achieved the standing of 3rd over all. The Tyrone Senior Citizen Club held its popular Bazaar and Penny Sale on Wednesday, Wednesday, October 3rd. A good crowd cleaned out the home baking, the plants, the bazaar items, enjoyed the afternoon tea and the suspense of the penny draws. Perhaps the happiest participant was Mariam Griffin who won the beautiful afghan which was hand made by Daisy Bell. Dedication of Church Doors Tyrone United Church congregation congregation clustered around the front of the church out of doors on Sunday morning, October 7,1984, in a service of dedication of the pair of new doors in the entrance to the sanctuary. Beautiful to behold, behold, the doors of solid oak were hand crafted by Marcel DeBlock, Orono. When passing passing through the doors one crosses an oak threshold also. May we recall with nostalgia the rattle of the front door in certain winds. The new doors were the gift of Long Sault Club 50. The committee which selectively made the arrangements arrangements for this esthetically beautiful entrance was Jim Woodley, Grace Smith, Tom Pleasance. Pastor Joe Lafave spoke the words of dedication. The Lazure family greeted at the church entrance on Thanksgiving Sunday and were ushers. Highlights of the service which was led as usual by Pastor Joe Lafave, were the musical selections. The polished choir anthem was "Sing a Song of Thanks and Joy", led and accompanied by Jacqueline Vaneyk. "Like the Woman at the Well" by the choir was also enjoyed, Rev. Roland Hopkins, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, a former minister on this charge, shared in the sacrament sacrament of Holy Communion and renewed acquaintances at the door.
