OBITUARY OLIVE MARJORIE BURLEY Following a lengthy illness, Olive Marjorie Burley, passed away in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, on Wednesday, October 31st, 1984 in her 80th year. Born at Gore Bay, Manitoulin Island, and educated there and in North Bay, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Witty. She was married on July 2nd, 1932 to Clarence G. Burley. A resident of R.R. 1, Orono for 55 years, she has previously resided in North Bay. She was a teacher for six years at Ice Lake, Colbourn Island, Manitoulin Island and Cowanville, retiring 52 years ago. A member of Clarke United Church, she had transferred to Newcastle United Church. Surviving are her husband, brothers Max Witty, Beaverton, Charles Witty of Calgary, sisters Janet Brady, Ruby Foskett and Hazel Mitchell, all from London. The Reveren^Fred Milnes of Orono officiated at the funeral services held on Friday at the Morris Funeral Chapel. Helen McDonald presided at the chapel organ. Pallbearers were Messrs. Norman Andrews, Armon Hollingsworth, Bruce Yeo, Doug Moffat, John Robertson and Del Taylor. Interment Newtonville Lakeview Cemetery, Newtonville. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Blackburn, Susan and Jeremy, Orono and Miss Carol Blackburn, Oshawa were Sunday supper guests with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Blackburn. Mrs. Carol Rusaw accompanied hubby Wayne in his nice new truck on one of his business trips to Prince Edward Islandlast week. Last Monday, Guide Charlene Potts was presented with her All Round Cord in a special ceremony at Enniskillen School. Mrs. Elizabeth Bateman gave the cord to Mrs. Rena Potts who then placed it on Charlene and this puts Charlene into the Pathfinders. Mrs. Mary Spry and Ashley of Toronto spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Potts. Ms. Linda McCormick, Newcastle called on her sister Mrs. Norma . Kennedy on. Friday and took 'Nick and Brandee home with her for the day. Friday night Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Kennedy stopped in at Ms. L. McCormick's, : Newcastle to pick up the children and then called on Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Campbell at Orono. On Saturday the Kennedy's went to town to see the Santa Claus Parade and from all that's been said, the Parade was a real success. The weather was nippy but at least it was dry. The directors and all the helpers should be congratulated to keep this up year after year. The parade looked quite excellent on Cable T.V. Mr. Guy Kennedy and Miss Cindy McClure of Oshawa were callers of Mr. and Mrs. C. Kennedy and family on Sunday. Congratulations to Mr. Cecil Kennedy who is celebrating his birthday on Monday. It proved to be a popular attraction for shoppers interested in doing some Pre-Christmas browsing after the Santa Claus Parade. Mrs. Elsie Roy gave the secretary's report and had it approved. Treasurer Mrs. Jackie Vanyke gave her report. Mrs. J. Woodley and Mrs. Bessie Vanyke gave their report on the Presbytery meeting. Mrs. Jean Slemon and Mrs. Blanche Jones had the Devotional and program. Blanche read a poem "The Last Post" which was followed by hymn 510 "From Ocean unto Ocean." She then read "Thoughts for November 11th" and "It's Time of Remembrance" that was written by Reverend John E. Bell. Then Jean asked Pastor Joe Lafave for the talk he consented to share with us. He touched on many subjects pertaining to 'Life after Death' down through the ages of many religions. Mrs. Jean Slemon thanked our speaker and lunch was served by the November couple. Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Christeen) Groeneveld of Coppins Corners and family were Sunday evening dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Doug Blackburn and Wendy. We are sorry to hear about the fire at Chapman's Garage at Oshawa on Saturday.
