Mr. and Àlrs. B. Cochrane, Cindy and Kathy went to Port Perry on Saturday and watched watched the Santa Claus Parade. My he is a busy Jolly Old Man. That was at least three parades he took part in on Saturday. Mr. Jim Miller of Sunderland Sunderland and Miss Joy Hadden, Saintfield were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. B. Cochrane and family on Sunday. Friday evening Mr. J. Adams went to the Civic Auditorium to watch the Oshawa Generals play hockey. They usually win when John goes to root them on but I'm not sure how they fared this time. Mr. and Mrs. John Adams erected a nice new large kitchen on their home this summer, so Saturday evening they threw a party for the folks who helped and a few neighbours - twenty-two guests. With John and brother Ernie and band as the live entertainment. On Sunday, John and Diane Adams and family called on Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ashton, Blackstock and also with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Strong of Black- stock. Sunday evening visitors with the Adams were Mr. and Mrs. John (Dora) White of Courtice, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie (Liz) Adams, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob (Mona) White, of Blackstock. Mr. and Mrs. Lars Christensen Christensen drove to Oakville on Sunday and visited with David and Mary Ellen Atkinson. Last Friday, Mrs. Beth Schryburt, Mrs. Jan Mayer and Mrs. Val Lloyd went to Oshawa to see the Oshawa Shoe String Players put on the play "Shylock Treasure" and enjoyed it very much" Mrs. Chris Symon of Rochester, New York, called on Mrs. Val Lloyd for lunch Wednesday before catching the plane for England to visit family. On Thursday Mrs. D. Lloyd met at the Dutch Oven with her friend Mrs. Gisela Reefke of Pontypool for lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Mayer and Kevin and Miss Sarah Lloyd went to Toronto on Sunday to see through the Royal Ontario Museum and walked to see Kensington Market and Chinatown. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Millson entertained Mr. and Mrs. Jim Nelson, Oshawa, for Saturday dinner. Last Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Michael Stedman, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Kiene, Scarborough and Miss Janet Laverty and fiance Mr. Lorenzo Cavelleri visited with Mr. and Mrs. Michael Laverty and family. The three ladies are all sisters of Mike Laverty. Saturday evening Mike and Sylvia Laverty were guests at the Appreciation Get Together at the J. Adams' home and were the first couple to dance on the new kitchen floor. Mrs. Jean Slemon accompanied accompanied Alfred and Jean Garrard to the Ebenezer Church on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs." Alf Garrard, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Trewin and Mrs. Velma Griffin, Enniskillen Enniskillen attended the special service at Ebenezer Church on Sunday evening where the Chapelaires, a mixed gospel choral group from London, Ont. were the guest singers. Mr. and Mrs. Art Trewin visited with Mr. and Mrws. Ivan Thurston at Dunsford on Friday and on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Will Trewin, Oshawa, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Love- ridge and Charles and Miss Chris Vanyke of Tyrone joined with Art and June and Paul Trewin to celebrate Paul's birthday which is on Monday. Happy Birthday Paul - and oh what a day on Monday morning morning - with the fog so thick you could cut it with a knife. So sorry to hear that Mrs. Marilyn Fitchette from Enniskillen Enniskillen store is a patient in a London hospital. We wish the best for her. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cameron hosted a birthday party at Haydon Community Centre for grandmother (Mrs. Lucy Penwarden) and combined it with a family Christmas party. Miss Margie and Master Johnny Goble of Bethany stayed with Adam and Andrew Millson on Saturday while their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Millson, attended the wedding of Mr. Mark Vanson and Miss Penny Nicholl at the North Minster United Church in Oshawa and the reception that was held at the Polish National Hall. Ms. Linda McCormick, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby McCormick, Newcastle, called on Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Kennedy and Nick on Saturday, returned home with them. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby (Janet) McCormick brought Nick Kennedy home and stayed for a game of Trivial Pursuit. Master Nick Kennedy attended the birthday party for Mark Evans at his home at Enniskillen Sunday afternoon. Miss Sandy Cornish of Newcastle visited with Mrs. Norma Kennedy on Sunday evening and returned home Monday morning. Mrs. Norma Kennedy visited visited with Miss Cathy Newell at Bowmanville on Monday and enjoyed being brought up to date on her wedding plans of November 29th to Mr. Craig Carter and of the reception plans at Miss Newell's home following the wedding. UCW Meeting in Tyrone Mock Parliament Held at Courtice Secondary Grade 10 History students at Courtice Secondary School had a practical lesson in parliamentary government by participating in a Mock Parliament on Monday, November 26. MPP Sam Cureatz, a former Deputy Speaker at Queen's Park, explained the procedures and acted as Speaker. He is seen here with Premier Kim Bennett (center) and Sergeant-at-Arms Chris Bloedorn (left). Yelverton and District News Mr. and Mrs. Howard Malcolm are currently attending attending the Canadian Pork Council's Council's Annual Meeting in Victoria B.C. A couple of our young people have been incapacitated this past weekend. Mr. George McCullough suffered a separated shoulder playing hockey and is currently carrying carrying his arm in a sling. Mr. Dale Stinson while playing hockey with the local Old Timers in Pembroke last weekend, suffered the pain of a kidney stone and was rushed to the Peterborough Civic Hospital where he spent several days, returning home on Wednesday. Several Directors of the Lindsay Branch of U.C.O., a carload of Directors from each of Durham Farmers Co-op (Orono) and Peterborough Peterborough District Co-op and their managers motored to Trenton on Wednesday, Nov. 21 to attend the Zone Three Fall Zone Meeting of United Co-operatives of Ontario, Zone ,'hree stretches from Beaverton Beaverton Coop to Gananoque Coop to the East and there were 42 of the 52 possible voting delegates delegates present from the area. The meeting was jointly chaired by Group I Director Ernie Miller and Zone Three Director Harvey Malcolm. In attendance at the meeting, explaining the various aspects of U.C.O.'s financial plan of arrangement in considerable detail were the new Interim C.E.O. and Corporate Sect. Bob Bethune and his Chief Financial Officer Ron Wilson and three Vice Presidents as well as members of the P.R. Dept. Mr. Ernie Miller, having having indicated earlier that he will not be letting his name stand for a further term as Group One Director for the past nine years, was paid tribute tribute for his major contribution contribution in that capacity and appreciation given. The Secretary of the Napanee Branch of U.C.O. Clark Martin was congratulated congratulated on being one of the two joint secretaries chosen this year as Distinguished Secretary Secretary of the Year. This is the second time that this honour has come to Zone three since its inception three years ago. Mr. Owen Moynes and wife Roma of Lindsay Branch were the first winners of the award. At the election held during the afternoon for a three year term for Director for Zone Three your scribe was returned returned for a third three year term as Zone Director. Either the delegates were content with the manner with which we were representing them or more probably, no one else wanted the job! ENNISKILLEN NEWS In regards to U.C.W. Gifts for Salvation Army. They will not be taking these to Christmas Dinner at Tyrone, but instead a box will be placed in the Church Vestibule Vestibule and gifts of food can be placed there from now until near Christmas. We also have an appeal from the Men's Hostel, Oshawa for bags of potatoes, carrots, turnips, onions and apples, packages of rolled oats, flour, sugar, rice, macaroni and dried soups. Frozen foods will also be appreciated especially turkeys. Christmas baking such as cakes, cookies, candies and nuts are other suggestions. Of course, anyone may donate to these causes not only U.C.W. members. Enniskillen U.C.W. will be joining Tyrone U.C.W. on December 12th in Tyrone Church Hall at 12 noon for their Christmas Party. The White Gift and Mitten Tree Service will be held on December 9th at 7 o'clock p.m. The White Gifts will be going to Salvation Army. We want to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Neil Oke and family to the east of the village and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Henderson (nee Cathy Sharp) to the West of the village. U.C.W. Report - The November Meeting of U.C.W. was held at the Church Wednesday evening, Nov. 21st. Merle Avery opened the meeting with a Reading "My Mother's Worries." Business and Correspondence Correspondence were dealt with. Joyce Virtue reported on the preparations for the Seniors Dinner on the following day. Plans for the U.C.W. Christmas Christmas dinner with Tyrone are to be planned by December Committee. Phone if going, to Shirley Stainton or Velma Griffin before Dec. 1st. We supply Worship and Dessert. A box will be in the Vestibule Vestibule for your gift to Salvation Army. Merle Arvery reminded reminded us of many projects that need help. Save your old eye glasses, labels and stamps. Devotion was given by the Committee. Nellie Groeneveld used Bible passages from the Psalms and Mathews followed by prayer. Offering was received by Joy Weny and dedicated by Nellie Groeneveld. A story of a young Barber, who found seeking for a new location in a fast moving society was bigger pay but didn't compensate for the lack of Christianity and fellowship of the smaller community. Doreen Lamb had a reading on God's help for us. God doesn't desert us when our burdens are heavy, explaining the church is not a building. The church is the People. Hymn 163 was sung. Marie Sha/p introduced our speaker Mrs. Tom Weiland who gave us a picture travel through Switzerland. Very interesting and a beautiful country. Nellie Groeneveld closed the meeting with Benediction and a social time was spent with lunch. Senior Citizens' Dinner Report November 22nd, about 56 of our "Over Sixty" friends from Enniskillen and former Enniskillen residents enjoyed a dinner sponsored by the U.C.W. at the church hall on Wednesday noon. It was a most pleasant time of visiting, good food, good program of worship and carol singing and humorous reading. Several cards were signed by everyone, everyone, sending good wishes to those not able to be there. A vote of appreciation was given to the kitchen engineers. Our President Merle Avery welcomed everyone. Edgar and Annie Wright greeted the guests at the door. Everyone received a suitable lapel pin and a treat of home made candy, a gift from the Guides. On Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Piggott and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Jake Gerryts and family, Bowmanville. Miss Jennifer Preece, Oshawa was a weekend visitor of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Werry. Mr. Todd Milford, Newton- ville and Steve Thompson, Mitchell's Corners were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stainton and family. Mrs. Robin Pearse, Miss Myrtle Smith, Miss Marie Parsons, Toronto were Sunday luncheon guests of Miss Myrtle Tamblyn and the Bowmans. Mr. and Mrs. Frank McGill, Staynor were last week visitors visitors of Miss Clara Page. We extend sympathy to relatives and friends of Mrs. J. Jones, the former Florence Brunt, who passed away Nov. 15th at her home in Peterborough. Peterborough. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wearn, Peterborough were recent visitors of Miss Clara Page. Mrs. Edgar Wright and Betty attended the Advent Carol Service at Hampton on Sunday evening, the three point charge took part, Zion, Eldad and Hampton. Pastor Joe and Kay, Nikki and Benji Lafave were visiting visiting in Hampton on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lafave who will be celebrating celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Nov. 28th. Mrs. Bud McNair attended her niece's wedding in Ottawa on the weekend.
