These parents fear that they will be "railroaded" into accepting accepting the extension. Peter Roach, spokesman for the Peterborough - Victoria Victoria - Northumberland and Newcastle Separate School Board, is quick to allay their fears, "we are in no way trying to force them into anything they don't want". Mr. Roach emphasized emphasized that the Board is making an . offer that the parents are free to reject. Some of the parents believe believe St. Stephen's facilities are inadequate for high school students. The library, library, cafeteria and sports facilities may not be suitable suitable for Grade 9 pupils. Another concern is that there are already two portable portable classrooms at the school and the addition of a Grade 9 class could mean as many as 45 new students. There are also worries that the older students will not integrate integrate well with the younger ones and that it could be detrimental to both. Mr. Roach will address the issu.es at an information meeting at St. Stephen's, The meeting will be held on Thursday, December 6, in the library at 7:30.
