/ The Canadian Statesman. Bowmanville, January 30, 1985 Obituaries ALBERT EDWARD SLUTE Albert Edward Slute passed away at Fairview Lodge, Whitby, on Thursday, January 10th, 1985. A retired Raglan farmer, he had spent most of his life in that area. Born on April 5, 1896, Mr. Slute was one of the oldest remaining natives of the vicinity. He was married on November 1st, 1916 to Evelyn Lang. Mr. Slute is survived by his wife, Evelyn; five sons and five daughters-in-law, Merlin and Emily, Leonard and Verna, Cecil and Doris, Lome and Eileen, Lloyd and Eileen, all residing in the region; 16 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren greatgrandchildren and a half- sister, Lyla Hawley. He was predeceased by a daughter, Doris and one grandson. Mr. Slute rested at the McDermott - Panabaker Funeral Chapel, Port Perry. Complete service was held on Monday, with Rev. C. Clarke officiating. Spring interment at Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert. HAROLD WESLEY WEBBER Suddenly at Trenton on December 15th, 1984, Harold Wesley Webber, R.R. 6, Bowmanville, in his 70th year, passed away at the home of his daughters. He was the son of the late Henry and Mary Webber of Burketon. On July 31st, 1945 he married Emily Poirer of New Brunswick. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, his two daughters Sharon, Mrs. L. Morrison of Trenton, Darlene, Mrs. J. Housen of Moncton, New Brunswick, 5 grandchildren, one brother George of Roseneath, 2 sisters Marion, Mrs. Roy Tennant of Orono and Mabel, Mrs. Bill Morrison, Bowmanville, one sister predeceased him. He loved his home and his family. He operated the Fina Garage at Maple Grove for 25 years. He got his education at Union School and Blackstock Continuation School. After his retirement he loved to work in his vegetable garden and also enjoyed growing flowers. He was a very kind person and had done a lot of good deeds in his lifetime. Service was at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home on December 18th. Spring interment Hampton Cemetery. Haydon Mr. Ernie Adams, Black- stock called on his brother, Mr. and Mrs. J. Adams and family, on Friday evening. Saturday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Neil (Penny) Love, Blackstock and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Love, Oshawa, visited with John and Diane Adams. Mr. and Mrs. John Adams visited with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ashton, Blackstock on Saturday Saturday evening. Miss Julie Adams attended a birthday party at the Laverty's for Katie on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Strenge, David and Laura from Scarborough were Sunday dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Ashton and Grant. Mrs. Helen Risnyk and son Paul, Oshawa called on Mr, and Mrs. Lars Christensen on Tuesday for lunch. On Saturday, Lars and Dorie had a pleasant surprise visit from their nephew Mr. Ted Henderson and a fishing buddy Mr. Charlie Macintosh, both of Sunnyside, Prince Edward Island. Later in the day, Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Susan) and Jennifer Smith of Oshawa called on their Aunt Dorie and Uncle Lars Christensen. Mrs. Mary Spry and Ashley of Toronto were weekend visitors with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Potts. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Love, Blackstock, joined Mr. and Mrs. Mike Laverty on Tuesday Tuesday and went cross country skiing. First time this year by the Laverty's and I hear a movie camera should have been used. Sounds as if a good time was had. Thursday evening the - Laverty children and Ricki Adams played hockey at Blackstock Arena. Miss Katie Laverty was a Friday overnight guest with Miss Julie Griffin of Enfield for a birthday party. Then on Sunday, Katie had her friends in for her twelfth birthday party at her home. Before next week Jack Laverty will have had his birthday - January 31st - and we hope he'll enjoy the party i. he's looking forward to. We'd like to wish Mrs. Diane Adams a happy birthday on January 31st too. Mr. and Mrs. Blair (Marilyn) Vaneyk visited with Steve and Cindy Millson Saturday evening for their card game. Master Jason Ruelland of Bowmanville spent the weekend weekend with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Millson and visited with Adam Millson Friday and Saturday. We'd like to wish Mr. Gerry Ruelland, Bowmanville a speedy recovery from the operation on Thursday. Mr. Les Goble, Margie and Johnni of Bethany popped in for a visit with Mr. and Mrs, Steve Millson on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Millson, Orono were callers with Mr. and Mrs. Steve Millson and boys. Misses Sarah and Nicola Lloyd had a joint birthday party on Saturday and had their many little friends for games and after, they were taken out to Burger King in Oshawa for supper. Sarah's friend, Miss Cathy Goswell, of Enniskillen and Nicola's pal, Miss Diane Bowman, Enniskillen, stayed overnight. On Sunday Val Lloyd made a visit to Mayer for tea. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Slemon attended the Scholarship Ceremony at Durham College on Friday afternoon and Susan was presented with the Academic Achievement in Business Administration and the Data Year by the Rotary Club of the Oshawa Board.
