Mrs. McLean's Class By Diana Moriarity "Can we live without trees? No, we can't! Mrs. McLean and class, my speech is on trees." - Mrs. McLean's Grade Four class has been working on their first speeches. They are also doing Eskimo projects and seeing films about our native peoples. In Math they are learning about measurement and long and short division. They have a new student, Lorie Solomon. The student- of-the-week in Mrs. McLean's class is Cindy Schell. Here is the best poem in the class by Collin Taggart - It feels like you're lost in a blizzard. Fluoride Rinse at Waverley and Our Dental Health Nurse By Natalie Axelson and Diana Moriarity Who organizes the fluoride rinse program? Many parents ask this question. Mrs. Darlene Cook, our Dental Health nurse not only is in charge of the rinse procedures (with parent volunteers actually dispensing the fluoride rinse), but she also has an activity for every class in the school. Some characters are used for enjoyment such as Murphy The Molar and z Charlie Choppers. Mrs. Cook works at twenty-four schools and works on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. She worked in a dental office for ten years and she does her job because she loves kids. Mrs. Cook works from September to June. She tries to go to the nursery schools twice a year. She also goes to some nursing homes. We really enjoy Mrs. Cook's visits and we hope to see her often this year. Waverley House League By Michael Holmes Waverley has recently started Net Ball in House League. The games are played every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in the gym. "Point" that's the sound you usually hear in the gym after lunch here at Waverley. Mrs. Freeman has organized net ball with some teachers helping her. There are four teams playing. They are Red, Blue, Yellow and Green. May the best team win! i99 Apples § S ^APPLE MONTH WÊÊ 'WÊÊÊÊ mHita *27*1 f>Q g- 5ib. s ® r BAG WÊWÊÊÊÊ^ PRODUCT OF U.S.A., CANADA NO. 1 GRADE Celery Stalks PRODUCT OF MOROCCO AQ i TRAY g g g PRODUCT OF CENTRAL AMERICA, DOLE OR CHIOUITA Bananas PRODUCT OF ONTARIO, CANADA NO. 1 GRADE Cello Canots PRODUCT OF P.E.I., CANADA NO. 2 GRADE Baking 4 54 k0 - Potatoes bag 1.49 PRODUCT OF CENTRAL AMERICA PRODUCT OF ONTARIO, CANADA NO. 1 GRADE Cooking ( <f z27ke M Onions BAG .WW Winter Weather Icy and cold, the weather is bad; Cars don't start-up and the people get mad.
