Holds Executive Meeting The Oshawa Presbyterial United Church Women executive executive met at the home of President Pat Beach, Greenwood, Greenwood, on May 1st, to plan United Church Women's events of the near future. Gardeners Get Ready for Spring Do you know who plants and tends the following Bowmanville Bowmanville community gardens at the fireball, library, cenotaph, cemetery, museum and green- • house, Forestree Place, Visual Arts Centre, Memorial Park. If you see people on their knees or bent doubled at any of these locations digging, planting or weeding, then more likely than not they are volunteer members of the Bowmanville and District Horticultural Society arranged arranged into work groups by Fred Lesage, one of the directors of the Society and in charge of civic improvements. Bowmanville residents should be very pleased and proud of these members who face not a few problems in helping to beautify their town. This is the month that all gardeners have been waiting for. May is planting month and also the time for the Horticultural Society's annual Plant Sale. It will be held on Wednesday, May 15 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the fireball parking lot opposite Trinity United Church Hall, where the Society's regular meeting will be held on the same date, commencing at 7:30 p.m. The plant sale from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. is open to the public and there will be a large assortment assortment of annuals as well as cuttings and plant divisions donated by members. Visitors are welcome at the 7:30 p.m. meeting which will feature a flower show emphasizing emphasizing spring blooms. Bertha Barnes will be the special guest speaker; her subject will be African violets and related plants.
