She was a member before she moved to Port Hope, and we were very pleased to have a visit with her. The meeting was opened in the usual manner, manner, the Ode; and Mary Stewart Collect. Mrs. Barkwell, our president, presided. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Our roll call was pay our dues which all did. The district annual that is-to be at Bethany was discussed discussed and plans made for the meeting. We also decided decided to have a 75th anniversary anniversary in the first part of June. We plan a tea and a display of things that we have done and a fashion parade, or whatever the committe plans. Mrs. Hughes took the chair at this time and as this is the last year of convenor and program committees until the change for next year most of the officers agreed to continue as we are for. this year. On Thursday the regular meeting of the seniors was held as usual. Mrs. Lewko had her operation operation on Wednesday and is progressing. Mrs. Nellie Morton and Mrs. A. Plooard were still in hospital on Saturday. On Friday evening a goodly number from here attended the induction service service held for Rev. Wendell Sedgwich at Welcome. An impressive service was held and he received a Bible, hymn book, water and chalice and the keys as a symbol of community life. Church services were held as usual, not as many out. It was our first service conducted by Rev. Sedgwich. The service had a few changes which I'm sure we will get used to. He read scriptures from Luke 24:13-31 and 1 Cor.l:26-2-5 The choir sang an anthem, ' He spoke on "The Appeal of Weakness." He spoke of women going to Jesus' tomb on the third day and told of their claims that He wasn't there which the disciples didn't believe. Later he spoke on St. Paul's first letter letter to the Corinthians about the Christian faith begun at Corinth and how weak the followers were as they found it hard to believe that Jesus had arisen. Mrs. Trew and Mrs. Peacock took up the offering. offering. Mr. Walker and Mrs. Wheeler were at the door next Sunday; communion serivees will be celebrated. April 18th the Parents' Club are holding a variety concert. Tickets for sale phone 797-2668. Mr. Stan Kennedy visited with Mr. and Mrs. C. Mercer on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. J. Peacock had dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Mac Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Walker and family, Mrs. M. Trew, and Beatrice Rowcliff were also there. Mr. and Mrs, C. Mercer had Mr. and Mrs. P. Mercer on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. K. Longyear had Mr. and Mrs. J. Quantrill Quantrill and Lisa; Mr. and Mrs. R. Mercer and Bryan, on Saturday evening.
