Mrs. Lila Chapman gave a reading, Mrs. Martha Farrow and Mrs. Doreen Lowery sang an enjoyable duet and Mrs. Neta Ransberry assisted with the devotions. The guest speaker Mrs. Bud Grant of Leskard gave a very interesting talk on "Mother's Day." Miss Lorna Lowery has left to take up her new position in California. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Taylor have moved to their new residence residence in "Wilmot Creek housing, and we are hoping Mrs. Taylor soon recuperates from her recent accident. St. Saviour's Church News Congratulations to editors of "The Clarke Chronicle" and its very "newsy" presentation of activities of both churches (St. Saviour's and St. George's in Newcastle). St. Saviour's youth group meets in John Breen parish hall kitchen and we enjoy a varied program of study, discussion and project. Monthly breakfasts and a recent trip to a stable in Blackstock to learn more on subject of "horsemanship", this was followed by pizza and punch time of refreshment. Our youth leader is Mrs. Judy Leek. News from "Wardens" Corner Corner thanks to all the contributing contributing members, Charles Gray, finance chairman; Fern Proctor as treasurer; Steve Johnson as Property Chairman, Chairman, Dorothy Hester, chairperson chairperson of Christian Education and Gordon Leek as our lay minister. Following prayer and announcements, Mrs. Carol Yeo gave children's story and illustrated how to make a church from our hands. Social News Those hard-working members members of the "Great Pine Ridge Kinsmen Club" have done it again! Another thoughtful donation to the community, this time to Orono Public School, a gift of 50 stacking chairs (cost of $6.00.00). The many friends of the Rev. S. Littlewood (formerly of Baysville, Muskoka), will be sorry to hear of his sudden passing away in his 94th year. He was a former minister in Orono in the early 40's. The funeral was held from Bethune United Church, Baysville Baysville last Thursday, May 13, Interment in Sunderland Cemetery. Town Hall Card Party Regular card party was held in Town Hall on Wednesday evening, May 14, with an excellent crowd and 13 tables in progress. With the following scores - High Scores - Doreen Green - 84, Marion' Sears - 80, Bill Grady - 78, Norma Moffat - 77, Wally Boughen - 74. Low Score for evening - Brian Cameron. The next and final card party for season will be Wednesday, Wednesday, May 28th at 8 p.m. in Town Hall. 4T Club Party and Meeting The monthly meeting of Durham Complex Seniors 4T Club was held last Thursday evening, May 15, with an excellent excellent attendance at the tasty roast beef dinner. The Durham County dairy Princess Miss McHolm was present and gave an interesting interesting talk on films on "Dairy Products." Music was supplied for easy listening and also for dancing from - Gladys Brown, on piano; Carl Tamblyn, trumpet; trumpet; Doreen Lowery, on drums; and James Lowery and Carman White on sax. Many enjoyed the excellent music and dancing. Explorer and C.G.I.T. Banquet The Explorer and C.G.I.T. banquet was held on May 14th, 1986 at Orono United Church (main hall) with 61 people in attendance. The Explorer leader, Marlene Ross welcomed everyone and led everyone in a musical grace. A Kentucky fried chicken dinner with cake and ice cream was enjoyed by all. After the dinner, a short meeting followed. Mrs. Ross and Mrs. Lynn Finlay, Hundreds of people dropped by the T.B.B.S. Motor iness (located on North Street and Hwy. 115) held Homes Sales and Rentals last Saturday, May 10th to an official ribbon cutting ceremony with M.P.P. Sam help celebrate the branch's grand opening. The bus- Cureatz doing the honours. C.G.I.T. leader called roll call with each member introducing introducing their mother or guest. Mrs. Ross then had a recap of the Explorer year. Awards were presented to the following Explorers: Perfect attendance Jennifer Goodmurphy, Michelle Ross, Katrina Kent, Leah Lockhart, Tereza Henderson, Henderson, Tamara Kent, Joanna VanDyke, Melissa Johnson. Special mention to Amanda Garnett and Janet Reader who only missed one night. Special mention was given to the following Explorers who for each night they attended had a perfect uniform. The Explorer of the Year Award went to Janet Reader presented by Elaine Vagg. Mrs. Lynn Finlay then gave a recap of the C.G.I.T. group and presented each member with a mission badge for a study on Mohawk Indians. The C.G.I.T. girls then gave a short skit on the C.G.I.T. uniform. A Graduation Candlelighting Candlelighting Ceremony whs put on by the leaders of the Explorers and C.G.I.T. in honour of two graduates Leslie Riseburough and Janet Reader. Those taking part were Explorer leaders, Marlene Ross, Elaine Vagg, Jennifer Henderson, Sharon Reader, C.G.I.T. leaders, Lynn Finlay, Betty Colvin and their president Wcnda DenHollander. The graduates were presented presented with a graduation certificate certificate and a small corsage of silk flowers by Marlene Ross. These girls had also received their "E" pins at the Explorer Church Service earlier in April. Mrs. Finlay congratulated them and welcomed and encouraged encouraged them to join C.G.I.T. Mrs. Marion Milnes offered congratulations and words of encouragement on behalf of our minister and the church. The evening closed with the Explorer Prayer and taps.
