Durham East Liberals Elect New Executive The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, August 27, 1986 New Owners for Ferguson 9 s Gulf Station by Tammy Hill The new executive of the Durham East Liberal Riding Riding Association was elected last week at the founding meeting of the association. Bruce Taylor, of Solina, was voted president of the Association, replacing Lorna Davey who is stepping stepping down after six years as president. The annual meeting was held at the Railroad House Motel in Port Perry. There were approximately 40 members in attendance from the recently restructured restructured riding. The new Durham East now includes the Town of Whitby north of Taunton Road, the City of Oshawa, north of Taunton Road, the Town of Newcastle and most recently, the townships townships of Manvers and Scugog and Indian Reserve No. 34. Talk of rezoning this area had been going on for about two years prior to July ,10, 1986 when the actual actual designation of this district district came into effect. Although Lorna Davey will not serve as president she is still involved with the Liberal Party federally in Oshawa and will be available available to the new committee at any time.
