A few towns and villages have yet to remit the funds raised, but hopefully these will do so in the next few weeks. We do rejoice greatly in the victory that has been achieved. We realize, however that none of this would have been possible without your cooperation cooperation and assistance. So many willing workers, with a very generous public, assured us this significant success. On behalf of The Salvation Army and those who will benefit from the funds received received - we say 'Thank You'. May God continue to bless you. Yours sincerely, Howard Moore Major NATIONAL CAMPAIGN DIRECTOR JANE PARKER, ENRICHED, SLICED Rich Lite White Bread homosexuals and prostitutes. prostitutes. Many a minister's excuse for not preaching on the issues issues is, "the people know where the church stands on that." It is a cop out to protect the guilty. The people need to hear it from the preacher's lips. The young pebplc need to hear the minister back the church's stand from the scripture. In fact any minister that preaches from the pulpit ought to be able to defend his position from the scripture, scripture, otherwise he is a quack. The results of preachers not speaking out on drugs, alcohol, premarital sex, divorce, divorce, etc. has been to have them creep into the church. Church members have been fed a diet of beans only - a diet of denominational denominational doctrine and nothing else. This type of preaching has lulled worshippers into a daze. The result is the congregations congregations are well instructed on their denominational idiosyncrasy but know nothing nothing about the facts which apply to everyday living. 99% of church activity goes on without the presence presence of the Holy Spirit and the sad fact is that neither the minister nor the congregation congregation miss him in the slightest. There is little hope for the church or the nation unless the church leadership wakes up to the fact that this nation is about to be called into judgement. We need ministers who can preach the scriptures and let the chips fall where they may; and any man who can not take the pressure had better get out. It is thé preachers of this nation, not the politicians who must fight in the frontlines against the tide of evil. It is the preachers that must stand up and lead this nation back to God! When the ministers of this nation do the job God called them to and begin to take the place of leadership that they should, we will see a moral majority arise that will straighten out the politicans. A moral majority majority that will make the breweries, breweries, drug pushers, and the baby butchers of this nation nation sit up and take notice. A moral majority that will clean up the books in the school libraries and throw out the teaching of evolution. evolution. That moral majority has' began to arise in the U.S." They have shocked themselves themselves with what they have accomplished. We can do the same, if the ministers in the pulpits are willing to stand up and be counted for the things which matter. If they are more concerned with getting the job done than who gets the credit. Sincerely, Len Colp Bailieboro, Ont. Editors Note: There's a guy with the answers. If he only knew the questions. Police Brief A 20-year-old man has been charged with failing to yield for a stop sign, while a 39-year-old man is in the Oshawa General Hospital with major injuries. The accident occurred at 2:30 p.m. on Monday when the driver of a pickup truck, who was later chaged by police, was westbound on Baseline Rd. at Courtice Rd. Durham Regional Police said the vehicle collided with the motorcyclist at the intersection. A suspect has been named in connection with a two time break-in at Square Boy Pizza on Church Street, Bowmanville. The second break-in occurred occurred on August 22 at 1:00 p.m. Both offences involved the theft of cash. The suspect has not yet been apprehended. Durham Regional Police are searching for vandals who caused $2,500.00 damage damage to the Cosy Country Restaurant Restaurant on Wavcrly Road last weekend. The major damage was reported reported to have been to the door and six large panes of glass. Police are still investigating. investigating. Mr. Editor: 1986 has thus far seen the ripping up of the Lord's Day Act by the Canadian courts. The promise to put beer in corner stores by the Ontario Liberals. T.V. programs across Canada have, if anything, anything, become more violent, more sex-suggestive, more determined in destroying the families of this country. Little has been done to mop up the pornography on the book shelves and magazine racks of the.nation. the.nation. The Canadian government government has produced a study which advocates more freedom freedom for prostitutes. Weak politicians have bowed to pressure and put homosexuals homosexuals into the armed forces even if that decision could cost us our country and freedom. Abortion is still rampant. Dr. Morgentaler goes on butchering babies in • the shadows of Queen's Park, while the attorney general closes his eyes. Many are ready to blame the politicians for all of the things which abase society. This is neither fair nor correct. correct. A big promotion of the smut and rot in today's society society is "the result of a weak Christian church that has long been asleep at the switch. First of all, the church is badly divided and that division division leaves it almost helpless helpless in fighting the ills of society. society. The liberal churches, while perhaps claiming the largest number, of members," members," have the lowest number number of people in Sunday services services or willing to make a stand on the issues. Most of their ministers have come out of theojogical schools that taught them doctrinal divergence, heresy that has cut the life out of the church and left it without Christ. Today's liberal church is little better than a Sunday morning breakfast club. Both minister and people comfort their souls with the idea that their salvation is in the hands of the church. If the church is wrong, then they hope, God will excuse them because he is a God of love. The liberals of today flounder in a weak theology and we see them reaching for the hand of Communism. We see them backing the World Cpuncil of Churches, which has become a tool of the Communist. No man can stand for Christ, declare allegiance to the Bible and then support support Communism; the two are poles apart. For a Christian Christian to back Communism is like a Jew voting for Nazism. Any man who attends one of these liberal mausoleums, and wants to be sure of the salvation of his soul, had better get out and find a church which believes believes in and follows the church's charter - The Holy Bible. The other segment of the church is Evangelicals. This movement is fast following following its predecessor, the liberals. Preachers enter the pulpit pulpit each Sunday to preach nice, safe sermons. They never ruffle a feather in the congregation and as a result never speak out on the issues issues of the day. It is fine to toll Sunday school stories but when they have no moral they are of little value. A minister fails his people when lie ceases to speak out on such topics as: keeping the Sabbath Sabbath day holy, the evils of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, premarital sex, gambling, etc. The people need to know what the Bible has to say about abortion, ^ MIDWAY MIDWAY MIDWAY MIDWAY MIDWAY g g I -- .j. § MIDWAY MOTORS 5 '~ SIE " WW Ml-UJJI 1 DURHAM REGION'S No. 11MPORT TRUCK DEALER ^ Help the severely burned Help build the ltlJllNCENTlti; at The Wellesley Call (416) 966-6642
