The Northumberland Northumberland and Newcastle Newcastle Board of Education advertised and received tenders for pupil transportation transportation routes for North Hope Public School, Campbellcroft, Enniskillen Public School, Stockdale Public School, Frankford, and South Cramahe Public School, Colborne. These routes were all previously operated by Graham's Taxi which was taken over by Bol- drick Bus Lines last January. January. The new owner continued to operate the service until the end of the school year, but indicated indicated that he could not continue for the coming school year at the previously previously tendered price. Of 10 bids received for the North Hope route, Everett Reid of Cobourg was the lowest acceptable acceptable bidder and was awarded the contract at a cost of $112.23 per day. One other was actually lower but was disqualified disqualified because the bid page was altered to read that the uid price would only be!' good fbr one year, th^n the rate in subsequent years would be the scheduled rate. Again, 10 bids were received received for the Enniskillen Enniskillen school route, and again, Everett Reid was the successful bidder, and was, awarded the contract to service the school at a cost of $104.39 a day. But, at the meeting, trustee Wilf Day scrutinized the list and pointed out that whereas most items have only increased increased by a nickel, the cost of hamburgers have gone up a dime, from $1 to $1.10. He asked for an explanation. Gord Savage, assistant superintendent of business, business, informed the trustee trustee that the' price was based on information from the cafeteria managers managers who felt that $1 for a hamburger was not quite enough.
