6 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, September 10,1986 Section Two HAYDON NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Millson accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jones to The Durham Senior Games Awards Luncheon in the Ontario Room of the Ajax Recreation complex, complex, Wednesday, August 20. Mayor McLean welcomed the group and introduced the head table. The luncheon was served and was enjoyed by young ladies dressed in fashion of many years ago. Mr. Ray Grierson was introduced introduced as the Durham District 13 Games Committee. The awards were given out including those for 5 pin bowling, Carpet bowling, Snooker, Golf Euchre, Whist, Shuffleboard, Bridge, Crib- bage and Lawn bowling. Following this Mr. Harold O'Brian was M.C. for the following program - A baritone baritone solo by Mr. Frank Stacey "The Rose of Tralee", then a tenor, Mr. Stuart Davis sang these selections-' 'N orthern lights of Old Aberdeen", "The River Shannon Flows", and "Bless this House". Mrs. Dorothy Manderson also known as "Lolly" and her Auto Chard, led us in several songs. The program was enjoyed enjoyed very much and as we parted for the day knowing we would be together again the following week. Saturday evening visitors with John and Diane Adams and family were Mr. Jim McGuire, Scarborough, and Mr. Ernie Adams of Black- stock, to enjoy a music session. Mr. and Mrs. E. Adams and family, Blackstock, were Friday Friday callers with Mr. and Mrs. J. Adams and family. On Sunday, John and Diane Adams and children accompanied John and Cecile Bertrim to Port Perry Fair and had supper with them. Mr. and Mrs. Will (Lucy) Trewin,.and niece Miss Dawn Piels of Oshawa were Wednesday Wednesday evening guests with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Art Trewin and Paul. Mr. and Mrs. Brent Cochrane and girls spent Saturday at Chemont Lake to close the cottage. Mr. and Mrs. Ian (Cheryl) Graham, Leslie, Darren and Graig were Sunday supper guests with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Howard at View Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Ron (Jan) Mayer and Kevin were guests Sunday with Dick and Val Lloyd and enjoyed the B.B.Q. supper. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Blackburn Blackburn enjoyed a few days around Huntsville, Ottawa an4 North Bay. Then on Sunday, Sunday, the Blackburn families gathered at home for a bar- beque supper. Mr. Deb Potts, Long Sault visited with parents Jack and Gladys Potts on Thursday. We extend a welcome to Mr. and Mrs. Bill (Kim) Potts and John formerly of Kincardine to Haydon having purchased the Milne Home. Mr. and Mrs. Percy (Julie) Beech, Blackstock, and Mr. Darrell Rusaw and Miss Jenny Rhodes were Monday supper guests with Wayne and Carol Rusaw. Mr. Sandy Jones visited with Mr. and Mrs. Neil, Black burn, Bowmanville, Saturday evening to see their Wedding gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Fred (Sybil) Smith and Amanda visited this week end with Mr. and Mrs. Gary Smith at Pembroke. Pembroke. Mr. and Mrs. Doug (Norma) Blackburn and Wendy, and friend Miss Nicole Henning of Tyrone went to the C.N.E. on Saturday. Last week was the last soccer game and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Millson attended the corn roast at Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nielsen. Oh yes Frank, a little bird told on you. It's late but hope you had a Happy Birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Millson, Adam and Andrew went to Twelve Mile Lake on Thursday. Thursday. Mr. Alfred Millson, went with them and Mr. and Mrs. Murray (Gail) Finney, Sarah and Jeffery, Bowmanville joined them. Mr. A. Millson kept busy helping to rebuild brother Edwards boat house. They all returned on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Glen (Joanne) McCloud of Burnstown, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne (Sherri) McNulty and Mrs. Faye Lewis of Long Sault were week-end guests with Mr. and Mrs. Bill (Kim) Potts and John. Thursday evening, Newcastle Newcastle Bowling starts this week -see you there. On Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Liptay and family visited with Lynn's brother Mr. and Mrs. Bob Chapman at Cameron Lake to celebrate their Mother's birthday. And then on Sunday, the Steve Liptay family enjoyed the tour of Black Pioneer Village at Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Slemon attended Bethseda Cemetery. Decoration on Sunday and were supper guests with Mrs. Olive Slemon, Bowmanville. Mr. and Mrs. Peter (Deloris) Bliech and Stacey, Cambridge, were visitors with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Millson. Master Jason Ruelland of Bowmanville was a week-end visitor with his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. A Millson. Monday, Peggy Millson and Blanche Jones joined other members of/' Bowmanville Golden Age bowlers at Port Perry for our trip (bus) to Actefest/ 86, at Kitchener for three days. On Friday Mrs, Alice Mason Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, joined husband Bill who has worked at Oakville for the summer and spent the day' with her parents and brothers; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jones and Sandy and Tom from Toronto before heading back home by car late Friday night, hoping to be there by Tuesday. Mr. Paul Trewin and Mr. Grant Ashton went to Cayuga on Sunday to the races. After so many days of raining, this week-end was beautiful - and now we know summer is nearly over - The C.N.E. is over and the young folks are back to school. Mr. and Mrs. Dick (Val) Lloyd, Sarah and Nicola holidayed holidayed for two weeks in Winnipeg with friends Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sterratt and had a terrific time.
