4 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanvillc, September 17,1986 Section Two Yelverton Mr. and Mrs. Frank Russo and boys visited a girl friend of Judy's and her family in Timmins, Ontario while on their vacation. Mr. Maurice Mantle who has spent the past several weeks with friends at their cottage north of Earlton, Ont. has returned home this past week. Moe, as he is affectionately affectionately known, brought home a copy of the Tamiskiming Standard in which we were amazed to see a photo of your scribe and an Earlton young couple taken at the Geneva seminar for U.C.O. Small world, eh? Yelverton residents have spawned a new industry: a local Yelverton couple have purchased a French fry truck which will be stationed at the four corners corners of Yelverton every weekend for the next several several weeks. Malconia was the scene this weekend of a miniature Boon reunion as Mr. and Mrs. Roy Werry and Karen of Sudbury, Ms Elizabeth and Mr. Louis Nasato of Mississauga converged here for a social get-together. get-together. Also in attendance were Mrs. Mona Malcolm of Ajax and Mr. and Mrs. Marti Malcolm and Donna of Omemee. Miss Karen Werry is scheduled to have her annual annual checkup at a Toronto hospital on Wednesday of this week. One of the earliest frosts to touch this area arrived on Thursday evening, August 29th with only mild frost damage reported. Here at Malconia only the cucumber vines and a few peppers were affected. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Cramzer have sold their service station station - the Dew Drop Inn east of Yelverton and the new proprietors are already in business. Sorry to lose Leo and Mary from our community; community; they were both extremely extremely well liked and will be sadly missed by a wide circle of friends. School days, school days, poker, crap, and pool days as the old poem used to go, are back again. The season of the fall fairs, plowing matches etc. are now in progress. For your Yelvertop scribe another "paper" anniversary anniversary so to speak as we commence commence our 35th year as Yelverton Yelverton correspondent to the Canadian Statesman. Each year we question whether or not we should toss in our "ballpoint" and then decide to continue for a while longer. Guess will try to hang in as long as John M. maintains the reins (or portions portions thereof) as Ye Editor. Or till we get the boot! Ed's note: Keep 'em cornin', Harvey. We'd miss you. I have warned you. It is time for you to ask forgiveness for your sins, become good believers believers and apologize for any wrongdoing. It is time now to repent, not later. Rev.
