Waverley Public School News Mr. Mills Grade Three Class by Jason Moore Mr. Mills changed grades this year. He went from grade six, a junior grade, to a grade three which is a primary primary class. Mr. Mills said that he wanted a change in grades because he had been teaching in the junior grades for a long time. He finds the workload very different and a real challenge. Mr. Mills finds that there arc more skills to teach than facts. He finds the children more enthusiastic enthusiastic and more interested interested in school. In gym classes, the class is learning routines and playing playing games. Sportsmanship and having a good time is the main thing. WAVERLEY'S CO-OP STUDENTS STUDENTS by Brenda Pyke There are co-op students from the Bowmanville High School and Courtice High School. One of the co-op students students is Karen Pyke. My sister, sister, Karen, works in Mrs. Murphy's class, which she enjoys very much. Karen started on September 22nd. Other co-op students help in kindergarten classes as well as other grade one classes. They listen to the children read, help kids write stories, group work and activities. Co-op is "on the job" training. It helps you decide what to do for a career. Yes, they all enjoy working with children. They will be finished around Christmas time. Have fun co-op students! If you arc wondering wondering what a computer helper is, they arc kids in Grade Five and Six helping the teachers set up the computers. computers. OPEN HOUSE by Tracy Moriarity Last week on Wednesday, October 7, Waverley held an Open House. All parents parents who could came to see their child's work and to talk to their teacher. Many set up interviews with the teacher for after report cards go out in December. The children worked very hard on pictures, stories and poems to be put up for the parents to sec. Mr. Reid and Mr. Thompson were at the office greeting people and they also went around to the different classrooms to meet some of the parents.
