Lakeshore League action, picking up two more victories on the weekend defeating Cobourg ' and Lindsay. On Friday evening in Cobourg, the home club at the 9:40 mark to go ahead 1-0. Bowmanville's Collin Taggart evened the count on a pretty goal-mouth deflection on a play set up by Gary Adams and defenceman Jason Crosbie. The Toros' Adams putBowmanville into the lead on a goal, engineered by his centreman Steve Deblois. Mark Bradley scored the game-winning goal for Bowmanville, the assist going Optimist Tykes Gain Tie Despite the cold, the show must go on! Members of the Bowmanville Senior Public School band, conducted conducted by Don MacArthur, put on an enjoyable per-, formance at the Tree Lighting Ceremony in Bowman ville on Thursday, December 4. The Senior School, accompanied by Central Public School, played many of the traditional Christmas songs to a large crowd which joined in with the vocals. The Optimist Tyke Team played their first game on Sat. Nov. 22, at Darlington arena against Agincourt. The game provided great excitement as both teams had many scoring opportunities, but were unable to beat the goaltenders, ending the game in a scoreless tie. Goalkeeper David Yellowees of the Optimists made many fine saves and deserved the shut-out. David Leppert, Niki Defreitas and Chris Pot had good scoring chances but could not beat the Agincourt goalie. Colin MacDonald, Niki and Brent Stockman played a good game on defense, while David Leppert, Stephen Tabb and Mike McCrory did their part with fine back-checking. Ajax scored with three minutes left in. the first period to take the lead. Midway in the second, Trevor Wright tied the game off a breakaway pass from Mike McCrory. Both teams were unable to score in the third which resulted in a 1-1 tie. Once again it was the defense from both teams along with good goaltending that kept the score low. David Leppert, Jason Lange, Colin MacDonald, Niki Defreitas, Jeff Carter and David Yellowees played excellent hockey. This year's select team members are; forwards: Bradley Aylsworth, Jeff Carter, Jason Frayne, David Leppert, Mike MacLeod, Mike McCrory, Chris Pot, Stephen Tabb and Trevor Wright. Blast Lindsay 9-0 Lindsay paid their first visit of the season to Bowmanville and were trounced 9-0 by the high-flying Toros. Bowmanville's Gary Adams scored the only goal of the first period, assisted by his linemates Steve Deblois and Collin Taggart. The Toros fired four unanswered goals in the middle frame with Richard Bateman scoring two consecutive goals, the first a solo effort and the second assisted by his wingers Jeff Murphy and Mark Bradley. Ryan Robinson scored the fourth Toro tally assisted by linemates Ryan Ferguson, just returning after a bout with pneumonia and his smooth-skating centreman "Chuck" Carr. Robinson scored again, unassisted. Gary Adams picked up his second of the game early in the final period, unassisted. Deblois scored the seventh' marker, assisted by Adams who had a great weekend. ! Jeff Murphy notched a goal, the assist going to Mark Bradley and the final goal of the game came off the stick of Robinson to complete his hat- trick, with the assist going to Taggart. Steve Oke earned the shutout, making the stops, when required but his defence! corps and wingers pounced on! the Lindsay attackers as soon,: as they entered Bowmanville! territory.
