On a clear, crisp, December morning (December 6th), the Community Centre looked ,,véry festive at the Annual Breakfast with Santa. The ..menu consisted of orange juice, pancakes, sausages, • syrup, tea or coffee. Santa's , .little elves and the other children as well cheerfully joined in, helping where ..needed. There was an information Stable regarding .Neighbourhood Watch, with free literature and a sheet to sign if you were interested. There is a lot to think about to ' make our streets safe for children and adults alike. , . Santa photos were taken by i'Jim Quirk. You may pick up photos at Freshmart after December 12th. . . Santa arrived shortly after nine o'clock. The photo lineun started immediately. Some t" children take to sitting on Santa's knee like a duck takes to water, while others have a shy streak. However, a nice photo series each year is wonderful record of grov/ing up to show others later. There was a background of joyful Christmas music on tape, just to help improve the atmostphere and get everyone in the mood of the season. Draw prizes were waiting for their lucky winners who were as follows: Santa and Mrs. Claus salt and pepper set, Dorothy Dewar; macramé Santa for door, Mary Gilbank; chocolate house, Toby and Freeman Arbeau's baby Joey (don't eat it all at once!). Santa drew the names out of the hat. Thank you all for making this annual event " a big success. The hall is booked for next year. A few of you have been asking about Russell Fowler. He is now living with his step-daughter at Bondhead, north of Toronto. Thanks to Mrs. Badluk for passing on this information. On Sunday morning, December 7th, the children and their leaders in the Sunday School had charge of the White Gift Service and did exceedingly well. She took over just before the offering, being in the choir prior to this point. Wilf Richardson acted as coordinator of the service at the beginning. The children made and put up the decorations in the church. Wilf Richardson donated the mitten tree, the Bryants loaned the manger properties, and Frank Stacey provided the straw. Everyone is to be congratulated for their part in a very beautiful service. The congregation was invited invited to share a light lunch in the basement of the church following the service for a time of fellowship together. On Sunday, December 7th as well, the Curtis family held a family Christmas Dinner in the Commuity Centre. Some of the family will be leaving for a sunnier climate shortly thereafter. On Monday, December 8th at the bowling, Marie Finney won the strike fund. High Single Bowler was Denise Stec with a score of 233. Julie Worr was High Double Bowler with a score of 377. On Monday, December 15th is scheduled for the Christmas party, with gift exchange and light refreshments between the two games. There was a very successful Christmas concert on Saturday, December 6th in the evening at Ballyduff Presbyterian Church, which was enjoyed by all, with many talented guests, and a light lunch served following the concert. Their Christmas Service will be held on December 21st at 1:30 p.m. with a few extra items of worship on the Christmas theme. We hope to be moved into our new headquarters at the Old Bethany Post Office early in the New Year. Season's Greetings are wished also from the Victoria County Pre-School Resource Van. Parents and children are invited to come out to the Pontypool Community Centre on Tuesday, January . 20th from 11:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m. and enjoy the socializing. One of the grade five classes at the school is studying Japan and the students students decided to make their learning experience more authentic by holding a Japanese luncheon. From left: Franco Seanga, Lindsay Yorke, and Amy Trimble were dressed in their kimonos and karate outfits to get the feel of what Japan is really like.
