The one day convention was held on Wednesday but was preceded by a coffee party and dancing to the "Taylor- Made" Band on Tuesday evening. Following the regular board meeting on Tues., a dinner was held at which time the four Directors who are retiring from the board were honoured with verbal tributes by representatives of both the board of Directors and Board of Management for their contribution to the company. They were each presented with wrist watches and their wives (where applicable) with a dozen red roses. Those retiring from the board were Bob Dawn, Stuart. Luckhardt, Allan Wellman and Stewart Dorrel. Following the annual meeting on Wed. a reorganization meeting was held on Thurs. a.m. at which time the existing executives were re-elected for the same positions namely John Black, pres., Murray Allan 1st Vice., Dave Rindall, 2nd Vice and Claude Gauthier 4th member. The four newly elected Directors were welcomed to 1 the board. A small than usual attendance from the Lindsay Branch was present and included Mr. and Mrs. Owen Moynes, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Motion, Mr. Ivan DeJong and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Malcolm. A good representation was also present from the Durham Farmers Board at Orono. Mr. Bob Dawn who had served 4 years as President of the U.C.O. Board and another 8 as a Director was presented with a silver tray inscribed with appropriate message at the convention. Total attendance of this year's convention was slightly higher than last year of eligible delegates. They went to see the "Festival of Lights" on both the Ontario and New York sides. On Wednesday morning, Craft class met at the home of Mrs. Bernice Stark for our last get-together before Christmas. Mr. Ted Stark of Knoxville visited Thursday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stark. Sympathy of the community to Mrs. Jeanette Layng and Dyana oil the sudden passing on Thursday afternoon of Mrs. Constance Gobi. Funeral is being held this morning (Monday) in Thompson, Manitoba. Mr. Karl Gobi of Thompson, Manitoba spent last week with Mrs. Jeanette Layng and Dyana. Mr. and Mrs. Brenton Farrow were afternoon and supper guests on Wednesday of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gilbert, Gregory and Laurier, < Toronto. On Thursday evening, Mrs. Pat Windatt, Mrs. Sandra Goorbarry, Mrs. Isabelle Trim and Mrs. Mary-Loû Fonk enjoyed the Newcastle Busy Bees Christmas dinner and party held at the home of Mrs. Susan Smith, Steward Road. On Thursday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Higgins, Mary, Sarah and Maia took part in the "Walk of the Lights" held at Port Darlington Marina. It was very beautiful with the boats decorated and lit up. The Salvation Army band was playing Christmas carols and a Nativity scene with live animals was at the end of the walk.
