It was the white gift service. There was a nicely decorated Christmas tree where the children could leave their gifts. Mrs. Rose McMurray conducted the service and followed the program provided. The choir sang. Another advent candle was lit and the picture that the children are forming each Sunday. Mrs. Davis, Misses Campbell, Fenton and McMurray were the main characters, along with several little tots. Miss Campbell, Mr. Hancock and myself answered Sharing of Hopes. Stories of Hope were demonstrated with a skit put on by Mrs. Davis, the two Wood's boys, and a couple of little girls illustrating a Haven of Hope for those who telephone into a centre. Collection was taken up by Mr. Bull and Mr. Yakrivchuk, and Mr. Quantrill was at the door. Rev. Sedgwick had the announcements and closed the . service. Coffee was served as usual. On Thursday the seniors met as usual and played cards. Only eleven attended. On Thursday afternoon the North Hope held their practice Christmas concert which consisted of songs, skits, and dialogues. Each class had a number. Then again in the evening the concert would be repeated for parents and those unable to see it in the afternoon. Thickson's had Mrs. DeKoker, Geo. Smocum, Mrs. Westheuser and girls, and Mrs. Fowler on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Quantrill had Mr. and Mrs. Alan Peacock, Mr. and Mrs. J. Peacock for tea on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. C. Mercer called at Mr. and Mrs. Ron Mercer's on Sunday. Mr. Mae Muldrew spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. R. Averys, Oshawa, and visited Mrs. E. Muldrew. Mr. and Mrs. J. Peacock had the twins home on the weekend. The Elizabethville Xmas concert was Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. The Garden Hill concert was Dec. 19at7:30p.m. Raymond Fowler injured his knee when he slipped on ice on Sunday. A fire at John Wright's house was reported Sunday. I didn't hear how badly it was damaged. Tyrone Bessie Vaneyk ■ Christmas Pageant Music ; . ' Music and singing are two of the most important elements in many Christmas presentations and it most certainly was true for the Tyrone Sunday School Christmas pageant. Deb Roy played several minutes of special piano music as a prelude to the Christmas story which unfolded in scripture (read by Rob Pascoe) around verses of the song, "Do You See What I See" which was sung by the Sunday School choir. The choir was led by Jacqueline Vaneyk, accompanied by Deb Roy at the piano. Deb Roy's accompaniment at regular weekly Sunday School sessions is also much appreciated. Our apologies for incorrectly reporting the prelude playing the first time round. Church Christmas Eve joint service, Enniskillen and Tyrone at Tyrone Church began at 7:30 p.m. Everyone, welcome. Advent Candles The fourth Advent candle was lit at Sunday School accompanied by appropriate scripture reading and a special Advent song. The fourth Advent candle was lit at church service by Andrew Forbes. The church service was rich in music. Tim Southwell played a piano prelude, "While Shepherds Watched" by Nathan DiGesare. Two selections by the choir were "See on Mary's Arm He's Sleeping" by Winnagene Hatch, and a beautiful contemplative peice by Natalie Sleeth, "Were you there, were you there on that Christmas night". Tim's piano embellishment enriched the organ accompaniment to the Christmas hymns. Postlude by Jacqueline Vaneyk and Tim Southwell was "All Poor Men and Humble". News Friends and neighbours of Larry Adamson, Manvers Road, south of Tyrone, hope and pray for his recovery from injuries suffered in the recent Oshawa plane crash. Elsie Roy attended the residents' Christmas supper and party at Port Perry Nursing Home where her mother, Mrs, Minnie Harper, resides. A very good attendance at the Christmas euchre party, which is sponsored by Tryonc Senior Citizens, set up 22' b tables of euchre with the following results: 1st Ethel Goble, then Norma Woodcock, Rose Barrington, Les Taylor, Art Sheehan, Ladies' low Marie Moses, men's low Doris Schoffickl. !>()-50 draw Earl Prescott, John McKeen, Agnes Schoffiekl. Specials Ann Taylor, John Schoontlcrbcck, Bertha While. Numerous other draws were made.
