This is just a short column to tie up the news items of the Christmas Season and into New Year's célébra tionp. ft is : your correspondent's 1 hope that some of the joy : of Christmas can be stored in your mind to carry you through the doldrum days of mid January. The next special sentimental day is in February, Valentine's Day, February 14 th. On Thursday, December 18th, there was a joint service of worship with our friends, the St. Thomas More Parish and the Pontypool United Church in the Pontypool church sanctuary. There was a good blend of items with both congregations contributing. contributing. Father Lynch is a very talented young priest, and he seemed to be in his element that night. There was regular worship on Christmas Sunday morning, December 21st, and a very interesting service of Carols and Lessons, held in the evening (7:30 p.m.) at Bethany United Church,, sharing a program with the St. Paul's Anglican Church in Bethany. A very thought-provoking Christmas Eve service was held at both Pontypool and Bethany United Churches, with all the Advent Candles iit, and a meditation on the subject of "Healing In His Wings", a line borrowed from the third stanza of the familiar carol "Hark, The Herald Angels Sing". Finally, the Sunday sermon for the last weekend of the month, December 28th, was on "Looking Both Ways". We traditionally use this period for taking stock of the old year's activities, and projecting forward with excitement excitement for what the new year will bring forth. Each child got a gift-wrapped book and had made an ornament for their mother, along with a card. Christmas Day in our family was celbrated at Tom's youngest sister's Barbara and Albert's new establishment, the Franklin House. Everything there was quite comfortable and lots of space. A total of 17 sat down to a traditional Christmas meal and then proceeded for the gift exchange around a lovely tree in the upstairs common room.
