The bride is the daughter of Barton and Helen MacNeill of Oshawa. The groom is the son of Ronald and Gladys Schram of Mitchell's Corners. The organist was Bev Smith who accompanied his wife Nancy who was the soloist. She sang "The Wedding Prayer" before the ceremony, and "0 Perfect Love", after the signing of the register. Given in marriage by her parents, Marilyn wore a formal gown of white satin. The bodice featured a scoop neck and long fitted pointed sleeves, highlighted with alencon re-embroidered lace with sequins and pearls. The full skirt edged with alencon re-embroidered lace flowed from a basque waist into a chapel train. Her matching lace and pearl headpiece held a two tiered finger tip length veil which was edged in tiny pearls. The bride carried a . cascade of fr^sh pink orchids, ... red roses and pink carnations. The maid/ rif honour was Ursula Merténs of Holland Landing. The bridesmaids were Laila Leipins, Amanda Diamond and Debbie Johnston, sister of the groom, all of Oshawa. They wore identical formal gowns of royal blue satin, featuring a spaghetti strap dress with a long sleeve jacket accented with ruffles at the collar and wrists. They carried identical nosegays of. fresh pink carnations, : blue tipped chrysanthemums and baby's breath. The best : man was Neil VanGrootheest of Oshawa. The ushers were Dean MacNeill, brother of the bride, Mark Long and Bill Vanderpluym, all of Oshawa. All of the men.wore matching grey tuxedos with royal blue cummerbunds and bow ties and blue tipped mum boutonnieres. The groom, chose a darker grey tuxedo with tails, and a grey cummerbund and bow tie and a red rose boutonniere. The bride's mother wore an elegant formal gown of blue hyacinth chiffon. The fitted bodice accented with beads and sequins featured full sleeves with matching accents on the cuffs and jewel neckline. A fresh white orchid corsarge complemented her dress. The groom's mother wore a formal gown of china blue chiffon crepe featuring, a softly draped bodice, full sleeves and a V neckline, accented with chantilly lace with a slim tunic overskirt enhancing a three tiered chiffon crepe sheath skirt. A wide self belt at the waist completed the look. A fresh white orchid corsage' complemented her dress. Both fathers wore grey suits with maroon ties and puffs and red rose boutonnieres. A dinner and dance for the guests was held at the Lion's Centre in Bowmanville. Mr. John Scott of Newcastle, the bride's cousin, proposed a toast to the bride. The couple .honeymooned at Caesar's Resort, Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. The bride wore a cocktail length royal blue satin dress identical to her attendants' dresses. Guests were present from California, New York, Ottawa, Windsor and Thetford. The newlyweds are residing at their home in Oshawa. Prior to her wedding; the bride was entertained at several showers. Mrs. James Arnold hosted a miscellaneous shower at her home on Gorevale Crescent for Roxborough Avenue neighbours, friends and relatives. She was assisted by her daughter Miss Jane Arnold and Mrs. Vera Winsley. A presentation of the bride's china pattern was also made. Miss Donna Gibbs hosted a dinner., shower at the Keg Restaurant. A presentation of an oàk cëiling fan.was made to the bride V \ 1 1 • The groom's parents hosted a party following the rehearsal in their home at Mitchell's Corners. Pilot's Condition Improving by Tammy Hill The 62-year-old Bowmanville Bowmanville area man, Larry Adamson, Adamson, who was injured in an Oshawa plane crash on December December 16 is listed in satisfactory satisfactory condition. The R.R. 5 Bowmanville resident was sent to Oshawa General Hospital after the aircraft in which he was a passenger crashed into a Hortop St. residence. Mr. Adamson was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, but was recently transferred from that ward. The cause of the crash is still unknown. However the Canadian Aviation Safety Board is presently conducting conducting an investigation into the matter. The investigation is expected expected to last about six months. The couple who owned the demolished Oshawa home, are still in Oshawa General Hospital. They are expected to begin lawsuits against eight parties, including including the federal government. government. Preliminary estimates indicated indicated that damages were over $200,000. Four persons, including the 37-year-old pilot of the aircraft, were injured injured in the accident. Pontypool Happenings A birthday party for my mother who was 90 on July 5 th, and the November opening of Franklin House, a motel-restaurant establishment establishment owned and operated by Tom's youngest sister and her husband, Barbara and Albert Munneke, near the Devil's Elbow Ski Resort, were special events in our own family. In the fall and winter, hockey is the game, and in the spring and summer the spotlight turns to fastball and lob ball. The Fire Department raises funds for equipment and training through their Annual Lob Ball Tournaments held in the third week of July. The ladies enjoy bowling every Monday afternoon in Millbrook at the bowling lanes. This is very much a fun league. A Christmas celebration took place on Monday, December 15th. The M R Art Gallery opened on the Victoria Day Weekend, May 16-19 at their new location on 7A highway, Bethany. They carry affordable art pieces ranging from Indian art to wildlife to Chinese painting on rice paper. Exhibits are changed regularly. The whole family participates in operating this fine gallery. On Sunday, November 2nd, Open House Ceremonies took place at the official opening of the Franklin House, the new motel and restaurant built and operated by Barbara and Albert Munneke, located very close to the Devil's Elbow Ski Resort. The ribbon cutting tradition occurred at 2:00 p.m. following a speech by John Bakins, M.P.P. and Bob Brown, Reeve of the Manvers Township. Lined up along the ribbon, actually cut by John Eakins, were the members of council, Albert and Barbara Munneke, as well as John Eakins. Tours of the establishment and a supply of refreshments were enjoyed. The restaurant had been opened for three weeks. The Pontypool Resident's Association held its 3rd Annual Meeting on November 9th. Election of the Executive Committee was held. Steph and Merle Timbers have a lovely Christmas present, present, and that is the addition of a son to their family. Caleb Stephan Merle Timbers was born on December 9th, ten minutes after midnight at the Oshawa Hospital, with a birth weight of 8 lbs. 10 ozs. Mother and son both doing fine. Congratulations.
