Gordon Paisley spend last weekend in Portage Portage La Prairie, Manitoba visiting fiis son Craig, who is enjoying very much his job as television journalist there. Craig will be spending a weeks's vacation in Blackstock at Christmas time. /Bryan and Judy Mountjoy and girls are spending the Christmas holidays with his mother, Mrs. Ivan Mountjoy of Blackstock and are also visiting other relatives in the area. „, Many of the local young people enjoyed enjoyed a Christmas dance at the Ops .Community Centre sponsored by the Victoria Junior Farmers. On Friday evening the local Pathfinders and Rangers along with their leaders enjoyed a Chinese dinner dinner at Mrs. Lee's home and then iWffht carolling throughout Blackstock's streets spreading the Christmas spirit. Afterwards, they .W.eht to Mrs. Turner's for dessert and hot chocolate. The Blackstock W.I. met in the 'Town Hall on Dec. 3rd. After singing singing the W.I. Grace, we sat down to a lovely pot-luck dinner with tables 'decorated for Christmas. We were happy to have visitors and 4-H "'leaders. ■ - Meeting opened with W.I. Ode and "Mary Stewart Collect. Flora ' "Samells gave à humourous reading • and we sang carols. Dora Martyn, 'dressed appropriately gave us a '"recitation of "The Widder Green," : : which gave us all a good laugh. An excellent crowd of parents, relatives and friends gathered in the Cartwright Central Public School Gymnasium on Wed. night to enjoy an evening of song and music presented by the students of C.C.P.S. The very capable Christie Corden served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening. The programme began with the Senior Choir singing a selection of popular songs accompanied by Mr. Friede on guitar, Mrs. Corden on piano, and Mr. Thompson on drums. Following this choir Mrs. Jeffrey's Grade 3 class performed "A Merry Christmas ABC" to the delight of everyone. Clogging was next on the agenda with Tracey Doyle and Leanne Goslin showing their expertise expertise in this field. Carla Davis, Nicole Leach and Brandie Waldriff played "Carol for Christmas" as a woodwind woodwind trio with two clarinets and a flute. Next Janine Prosser and Tanya McLean performed a flute duet of "Yuletide." Mrs, Hopkin's Grade 2 class sang "I Want A Brand New Brother" which drew several titters from the audience. A group of Grade 2 and 3 students led by Mrs. Argue and Miss Morton put on the skit "A Chipmunk Christmas" for all to enjoy. Following Following this the Junior Choir sang three selections accompanied by Mrs. Corden. The music continued with Mrs. Hoyle and Mrs. Butt leading the recorder group and Mrs. Jeffrey conducting the Concert Band in traditional Christmas tunes. Lorrie Swain, Julie Corden and Tracey Hoskin performed "Dona Nobis Pacem" as a woodwind trio followed followed by the Concert's Band "Joy To The World." The evening ended on a festive note with the Primary Choir singing three enjoyable songs. This evening of song was enjoyed by all who attended and could have been responsible for putting the spirit of Christmas in someone's - heart. We are pleased to report that Mrs. Rose Creighton and Bill Johnston are both home again following stays in Port Perry Hospital. Mr. E.R. Trewin is now a resident of the Port Perry Nursing Home after a lengthy stay in Port Perry Hospital. Floor Hockey Results: both Blackstock teams played a team from Port Perry YMCA'leaguejThe Port Perry team was a combination of both Port Perry teams due to the lack of players on each team.-Game ' 1 with Port Perry 9 -- Blackstock Maroon 7 with the Blackstock scorers- Brendon Agnew 4; Chris Chorostecki, Kendall Chorostecki and Tim Masterson each 1. The "sudden "sudden death" overtime goal was scored by Kevin Pearce. Floor hockey resumes January 13. OBITUARY Ina R. Pascoe In declining health for several years, Ina R. Pascoe, died on Friday, December 12, 1986 at Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, in her 89th year. Born and educated in Huron County, she was the daughter of David and Catherine Cunningham, and was married in 1935 to R. Wallace Pascoe. Previously residing at Brussels, she had been a resident of Enfield 51 years. She was a registered nurse by profession graduating from Wingham Hospital in 1929. A member of Enfield United Church, she was a life member of the Enfield U.C.W. Surviving are her husband Wallace, daughters Evelyn (Mrs.Carl Sargent) Springville, and Marion (Mrs. Tom Pearson) Bowmanville, and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home with the Reverend Hopkins and the Reverend McKinnell officiating. officiating. Spring interment Hampton Cemetery.
