Waverley Public School News Volleyball - by Jason Moore This term, volleyball is the big hit at Waverley as both the junior girls and junior boys have been trying out for the school teams. During the past two weeks the girls have been practising twice a week after school and the boys have met twice a week before school hours. The girls volleyball team is being coached by Mrs. Freeman and the boys are being coached by Mr. Ralfe. The practises start out with stretching exercises, jogging and jumping jacks. Serving, bumping and volleying are the three main skills taught in volleyball. The most fun part of the practises is when the team is divided into two groups so they can have a game against each other. The girls and the boys volleyball teams will represent Waverley on Thursday, January 22 at Bowmanville High School when the Bowmanville Junior Schools will meet for a tournament. On Saturday, February 14,: at Bowmanville High School there will be an all day volleyball tournament for all area junior schools. Best of luck to the two Waverley teams. M.S.
