The event was a time for disabled children to ride and show visitors their increased sense of balance and ability to do what others take for granted. The stables will also be the site, in September, of the ninth annual ride-a-thon to raise money for the disabled. The 4th Bowmanville Beavers and Cubs held their annual awards night on June 17. Honoured as the cub "Lair of the Year" were, from left: Rodney Tutak, John Carpenter, Mark Avila, Jason Greenley, Robbie Lamont. They are pictured with leader, Linda Gillespie Gillespie (Baloo). Throughout the year the cubs have inspection inspection and earn badges toward the total lair points. "Dog-on" it The home owners of this fair town of Bowmanville are beginning to show some annoyance at dog owners who are 'dog walkers' that allow their pet to make unwanted doggy deposits on the front lawns of people's properties. At present it seems there exists three special categories of 'dog-walkers'. Firstly, the regular, who chooses a variety of routes so as not to become too familiar in any one area. Secondly, the night dog walker who wishes to remain unseen, unknown and immune from ridicule. Thirdly, the concerned concerned regular who carries a device (pooper scooper) along with him so as not to leave any refuse on anyone's front lawn. This last type of person can only be hailed as a concerned and philanthropic citizen with respect for others' property. In essence, if you find yourself yourself in category one or two, you can correct your ways by adopting a certain sure solution to the problem which will please the watchful eye. You are urged to use the "pooper scooper" technique. This is by far more superior than having the animal relieve itself before or after the walk because such force would only negate any early, or late deposit. Now take heed all dog walkers, for your problem is better understood than stood upon. In the interest of all those neighbors and friends who have been "dogged" in the past, go ahead and try the method suggested and you will be guaranteed the deepest appreciation I'm sure - "dog- on" it. The HomeOwner RADIOACTIVATED -- cars are in action every Sunday Sunday between 6 and 9 p.m. The vehicles -- one tenth the size of a real car -- are put through their paces just west of the Bowmanville Golf Course and are classified into different divisions. The club holds races in two-wheel, two-wheel modified and four- wheel drive categories, and drivers accumulate points through the season. For June 12, Kevin Rimmer took first place in the two-wheel modified competition, while Robert Martin placed second in two-wheel stock and Larry Hanna won the four-wheel drive competition. competition. SLO-PITCH -- The Bowmanville Jr. C Eagles will be playing their ball tournament June 27-28 at Memorial Park in Bowmanvile.
