Happenings from Newton ville Twenty-one members of the Brown family met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Trueman Henderson for a baby shower for Miss Taylan Justine, infant daughter of Mr. and , Mrs. Martyn Brown on Tuesday Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Clark with other Senior Citizens of Port Hope travelled by bus to spend Wednesday at Niagara Falls and visit Marineland. On Friday, Mrs. Inez Boughen had her cast removed from her leg at Oshawa Hospital and will begin therapy at Bowmanville on Monday. The U.C.W. met last Wednesday Wednesday evening at the Sunday .School beginning with a Devotional Devotional by Dorothy Stapleton and Jean Kimball on "Loyalty." The business meeting opened with , the "i-Lord's Prayer in unison, followed by thé reading of the minutes and treasurer's report, sunshine and social functions' report. A bus trip to Kitchener and surrounding area on October 3rd is planned. Dorothy expressed thanks to all who helped with our Church Anniversary services services in May. Application was filled out for permit to sell tickets on a quilt, donated by Dorothy and an afghan made by Jean Kimball and the draw will take place at our bazaar on October 24th. After viewing three sets of dishes, a pattern was chosen and these are to be ordered for Fall. Lunch and a social time followed. Mr. and Mrs. Trueman Henderson and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Henderson attended the 50th wedding anniversary celebrations for their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Norman Heard at the Kresendos Youth Centre at Peterborough on Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Farrow visited Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dil- worth of Enniskillen on Sunday Sunday and Jan is now spending a few days with the girls. An award morning was spent at Newtonville Public School auditorium on Friday morning with several parents attending. Constable Dillon presented the Safety Patrol Awards. Mr. McCurdy of Cobourg, who will be the new principal,in the fall, was also present. Several awards were presented by the different teachers Mrs. Eames, Miss Maaden, Mrs. Hoy, Mr. Wolff, Mr. Morton, Mr. McBride. Library - Mrs. McFeely, French - Mr. Walker, Assistant Assistant students Ms. Hache, Miss Berneice Milligan and Olive Henderson presented the Hanock trophy to Amanda Lloyd and Chris Klages. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Clark have moved back to their home on No, 2 Highway and Mr. and Mrs.-Jim Clark and' family moved to their home on the Base Line, exchanging homes on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Henderson Henderson visited Mr. and Mrs. Ben Henderson of Port Hope on Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stapleton attended the graduation exercises exercises of their son, Jeff, held at the Pines School on Thursday evening. The choir sang "Wonderful Story of Love" and at the close of the service "God Be With You." The minister read various scriptures from the - Bible which included the Seasons of the Church and a few hymns were sung which was associated with each season.
