They report a wonderful trip after a delayed arrival. It seems a freak snow storm from Albany, N.Y. through to Bennington, Vermont was timed perfectly to stop their bus along with other buses and hundreds of cars, whose passengers were ali out to see the wonderful fall colours. The twelve inch heavy wet snow weighed down the leaves and branches and tree boughs to the extent that they broke down on power lines to disrupt power and also were blocking blocking traffic- where power lines fell across the road. They were fortunate enough, along with other bus loads and about 200 others, to find shelter in a large high school that wasn't affected by the black-out. They were taken care of by the Red Cross -- who supplied blankets, sandwiches and coffee. The next morning at daybreak the State Police were allowing allowing traffic to move again, so they resumed their trip to Yankee Doodle Lodge, which was actually 25 miles away and believe it or not there was practically no snow there.
