Mrs. Medd's class has finally finally discovered what their Christmas tree will be. The majority majority of the class did bird feeders. Most bird feeders were suet logs, (logs that have holes filled with animal fat). Other projects were mobiles mobiles depicting birds in their natural habitat and others were posters describing one specific bird that lives in Canada. Mrs. Medd's class is getting getting ready for the holidays. On Thursday they are having having a present exchange. On Monday they picked names from a hat. One of the mothers mothers has made a Chocolate house for the class to eat in the room, Uum!!! Right now the class is writing a story about Santa Claus. The story is about a crisis that comes up close to Christmas Eve. The class has started field hockey. Every Physical Education Education period the class plays certain games like tail tag and red light, green light. They also practice the skills of pivoting and controlling the ball. The I.B.M. computers that the class got at the beginning of the year have been left printerless, that is until a couple of days ago. The printer has been hooked up properly but will not be functional functional until after the holidays. holidays. As you probably already know, the Olympic torch will be passing through Bowmanville Bowmanville Monday, December December 21st at 4:00 p.m. Our school and many other places, places, have been selling commemorative commemorative flames for $2.00 each. Our school is also having having a letter sent home to tell how to use it safely. After all, we wouldn't want somebody getting hurt so close to Christmas. In fact they are, Rowing. The kindergartens' are so busy making decorations that the tree keeps getting bigger and bigger. They are also busy making beautiful surprises for their parents to open on Christmas Day. While some are making decorations, oth-' ers are very busy doing activities activities such as puzzles, gingerbread gingerbread houses, baking pretend goodies in the home centre, and listening to tapes and watching films about Christmas. The kindergartens kindergartens are certainly in the Christmas spirit. Hannah Whately Christmas is coming! Christmas is coming! And it's sure Christmas in Mrs. Dolan's Dolan's room. They went to get a Christmas tree and also to the mall to get some poinset- tias. They made gingerbread men, Christmas trees and a Frosty the Snow man cake. They have been doing a mural mural of the Santa Claus parade, parade, playing Christmas bin- go, bringing in food for the Salvation Army and they're learning how to read their favourite Christmas Songs. Once in a while they sing carols in the spare room. Their party was on Friday December 18th. Samantha MacDonald. Eileen Malcolm came through her gallbladder operation with flying colours and is recuperating recuperating nicely, having returned returned home December 7. Likewise, Norma Wilson, following following a broken hip 2-3 weeks ago, is already managing managing to manoeouver up and down stairs. Mr. Art Rowan was guest speaker at the Manvers Twsp Historical Society's recent recent meeting in Bethany. Art was speaking on the History of Manvers Township Schools. Victoria County has recently had a book published published written by the late Ralph Robinson on the past history of Victoria County schools and it is now for sale as a Collector's item. At Sunday service at Yelverton Yelverton United Church, the second Advent Candle was lit by three of the Sunday School girls with appropriate appropriate ceremony. Mr. Evans was assisted in the Scripture reading by Doris Rowe. Carl Johnson was the usher and Brenda Malcolm presided at the electric organ. The new residents residents of tne former Joe and Ida Hurtig residence were welcomed to the morning service. At about 12:30 in the morning a car was being driven East on Bayly Street at Sandy Beach Road when it was struck in the rear by another vehicle which took off. The driver of the vehicle which was rear-ended was hurt and taken to Hospital. He still suffers from back problems. The car was a total total write-off.
