Mrs. Phylis Munroe took over the program and spoke on "I am the way; the truth; and the life". Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Taylor sang a duet. We then all sang "I Hear Thy Welcome Voice" and each filed up to the altar and lit a candle finishing finishing up the exercise with Mrs. Smith singing a solo. Mrs. Susan Peacock had the story of Heaven's Christmas Tree which consisted of what was needed on the tree. She had made up gifts wrapped and labelled love; forgiveness, abundance abundance of life; eternal life; and peace, which were taken and hung on the tree by Dorothy Longyear, Loraine Scott, Winnie Finnic, Finnic, Mrs. Ritche and Mrs. Nystrum. Mrs. Phylis Munroe Munroe spoke on love. Mrs. B. Trew introduced our speaker, Lynda King, who spoke on compassion. Mary Gardiner also spoke. At noon an excellent excellent pot luck dinner was enjoyed enjoyed by all. Mrs. Gardiner Gardiner and Mrs. Aikens sang a duet. The seniors held their last meeting for 1987 on Thursday. Birthdays mentioned mentioned for December were Mrs. Mannley only. Next meeting is January 7th. Church services were well attended and Rev. Sedgwick had the usual opening. The third Advent candle was lit. Mrs. Davis and Michele Smith continued continued the story and Michele lit the candles. A display of sheep, shepherds and wise men was placed on the altar table by the junior Sunday school class. Rev. Sedgwick read scriptures from Isaiah 40:1-11 and II Peter 3:8-15 and spoke on Worth Waiting For. Mr. Quantrill and Mrs. Murray took up the offering. offering. J. Quantrill attended the election of the new Warden last week at Cobourg. These four cubs were initiated into the 9A Bowmanville troop on November 19, as was their new cub leader Wayne Harnum (left). Dave Stainton (middle), a member of the district service team, made the presentations. Linda and A1 are leaders of the 9th Bowmanville Pack. They spent three weekends on a training course in order to attain the Part Three Wood Badge.
