/, i fi The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, February 3, 1988 Section Two Report from Orono-Lockhart Public School By Jessica Wark Orono Campus If you sit in the school library library you can hear the kids playing and hard at work. The little kids come out to the library to work. You can work fine if you like working working where you can see everyone hard at work. Some people think school is no good. Have you thought what school can teach you? Just think before you say anything! Orono Girls Volley Ball The girls for volleyball have been trying hard. They have been meeting at the school Mondays, sometimes Wednesdays and Fridays. They have to be at School by 8:00. I should know they're trying hard because I'm on the team. Orono team has played a couple of games against other teams. We didn't win them all but we tried our best. I'm sorry for the people who tried out for the team and did not make it. For those who did I hope you do well at the tournaments. House League The boys and girls House League has been going well. For all the people who show up for the games, all the captains thank you. The Orono teams are called Panthers, Cougars, Cobras, Dragons. All the teams have been trying hard. It does not matter if you win or lose, it counts if you had fun. Outdoor Centre The Grade six class went to the Outdoor Centre. Half of the grade sixes did Contour Contour Mapping and the other half did things about trees. Then we would trade. After we had lunch we went tubing. tubing. All the grade sixes loved it. some people went down on the double tube - they would always yell and wipe out. We all went down a couple of times. Mr. Leith went down on the big tube. Everyone had a great time. Here is an interview wtih Madame Joe: Why did you pick to be a French teacher? I decided to be a French teacher because I enjoyed teaching and enjoyed Fr- ence, so I put them together. When did you decide to become a teacher? I decided to become a teacher in High School in grade nine. What are your hobbies and background? I like to do crafts and sports. I like the outdoors and nature. I like to do something with music. What do you think of the Orono kids? I think they're great! What kind of worksheets do you give the kids? The ones that come with text book and I make up my own. Out of all the grades you teach what classes do you like the best and why? I like grade four, for their enthusiasm but I also like the humor of the grade fives and the abilities of the grade sixes.
