Put up "No Smoking" signs in hazardous areas. O Hove the right extinguishers in the right places, them frequently ond recharge when necessary. i Petroleum products should be stored at least 40 feet ' from any other building--underground storage is best. If above ground, tank should be on non-combustible support. In either cose they should be provided with vent pipes not less thon 1 Va inches inside diameter and capped with weather-proof hoods. The dispensing of, petroleum products from storage tanks should be by means of pumping equipment. ( Always refuel equipment outdoors, away from open flames and sparks--be sure motor is shut off and cool before refueling. i Always keep cistern (ond stack pond) safely full for * fire fighting. Make sure it's accessible to fire apparatus at all times of the year. Check lightning protection ond grounding--check TV * antenna stability and grounding (don't put it on the chimney). IP Gas ("bottled" gas) cylinders should be securely fastened to a firm support ond resting on a solid foundation and located away from windows ond basement basement openings. Your fire fighting tools should be accessible in on emergency. © © Chimneys must be kept in good repair--especially in attic areas. Bracket supports are not approved. Rusty or pitted smoke pipes must be replaced ond must be supported by approved metal thimbles when passing through walls and ceilings.
