November :iO. 1988 Graduates Janet (Andringa) Downer Graduated spring, 1988 with a Master of Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) from University of Western Ontario, London. Her other degrees include a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Geography Geography from Wilfrid Laurier Laurier University, Waterloo (1986) and Honours Bachelor Bachelor of Arts (1984) in Geography Geography from Wilfrid Laurier University. Janet is presently employed employed at Pickering College, Newmarket ns Teacher/ Librarian. This is an independent independent school for boys from Grades 7 to 13. She teaches Geography and French in the Junior School and English as a second language language in the Senior School. Blackatock Christmas season has arrived in Blackstock with the fine Port Perry Santa Claus Parade on Saturday afternoon. Many from this area attended and enjoyed this annual event that seems to improve greatly year by year. On Sunday evening a capacity crowd attended the Intergeneralional Service of Carols and Hymns that was held at the Blackstock United Church. The C.C.P.S. Band under the direction of Mr. John Beirness, various sections of the Sunday School, both Junior and Senior Choirs all contributed numbers to the evening's programme programme that included the singing of many old favourites of carols and Christmas hymns. During the evening Rev. and Mrs. Chas. Bull and young daughter were in-. troduced as the St. John's Anglican minister. Following the service members of the Youth Group gave out candy canes to all in attendance. Curling will be beginning next week at the arena which has undergone considerable renovations renovations this fall. Mixed league plays Tuesday evenings. New members are welcome to join. Wednesday afternoon callers of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson were Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Thompson Thompson of Bexley, Mrs. Willard Thompson and Mrs. Edson Thompson of Cannington who enjoyed enjoyed a pleasant afternoon with their cousins. Helen and Stuart Dorrell of Charlton attended the Sheep Breeders' Annual Meeting held in Barrie and then visited friends and relatives in this area. The work has been finished at the high school library with Rosemary Hepburn doing a large amount of the work that was done. Assisting Rosemary were Elaine Gibson, Marsha Massie, Janice MacKenzie. Barb Weir and Peggy Larmer. This project has taken approximately one year to complete. On Sunday, Harold McLaughlin celebrated his birthday. His three daughters, Linda and Roy Brad- burn, Janis and Bill St. John and Kelly and Terry Gatchell and families all were present to wish Dad a happy birthday on this special event. Many happy returns, Harold. Parents are invited to attend the Floor Hockey games which are held on Tuesday evenings at C.C.P.S. with the Intermediate games from 7-8 and the Seniors playing from 8-9. The Yellow team defeated the Red 8-3 with scoring done by Kevin Gilbank, Brad Morton, Deryk Campbell and Jason Logan for the Yellow team by Dillon Webber for the Red. In the Seniors the Bruins defeated the Canadians 10-4. Scoring Scoring for the winners were Mike Hepburn, Todd Moore, Andrew Avis, Jason MacDonald and Doug Seabrook and for the Canadians Brent Donnelly, Adam Vivian and Jason Cliff. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. M. Mantle of Greensboro Drive who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on the weekend. A family gathering in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Mantle's Mantle's 50th wedding anniversary was held. A warm welcome is extended to Judith and Robert McCudden, Marie and Emily who moved from Whitby to their home on Greensboro - the former Fetter home. We hope that you enjoy life here in our busy village. At the Tuesday evening card party at the Town Hall there were Ills tables with the following win- ners: 1. Norman Rohrcr, 2. Fran Gibson, 3.
