If you're like most of us, you've made resolutions resolutions and in these first few weeks of the new year we are trying hard to keep them. Take time to care for yourself though and spare some private time to recharge recharge your batteries. Time now to read a good book, visit visit with friends, learn a new hobby or sport or just enjoy time with your family. Most of the local community community groups are back in operation operation after the holidays and they are always pleased to see new faces. The following will give you some information information on groups in Bethany and Pontypool. (Phone me if you want a contact and number). The Bethany UCW meets the first Monday of the month, usually at 8 p.m. at the Bethany United Church. In January and February the group will meet at 1:30 p.m. The Ballyduff Presbyterian Presbyterian Ladies' Aid meets the first Wednesday of the month in the evening at members' homes. The Bethany Women's Institute meets the second Monday of the month at 8 p.m. at member's homes. The Anglican Church Women's group meets the third Thursday of the month at noon at member's homes. This month the meeting will be on Thursday, January 12 instead of the 19th. The Pontypool Keenngers meet the first and third Thursdays of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Pontypool Community Centre. Both the Pontypool Parks Board and the Pontypool Church Volunteers are active active in Pontypool and welcome welcome your support. The Manvers Historical Society meets in Bethany and they are undertaking the project of restoring the Old Post Office. A lunch was served and at midnight there was punch, hats and horns and the singing of Auld Lang Syne to usher in the New Year. The door prize was won by Joyce Eawards. It was a box of groceries donated donated by the Bethany General General Store. There was a dance at both the Manvers Arena and the Pontypool Community Community Centre. Both places had a good turnout and a lot of fun was had by all. Warren Sutcliffe and His Band of Renown provided the live music at the Arena and DJ, Darrell and Darrell provided the music in Pontypool. UCW Meeting The Bethany UCW held its first meeting of the new year on Monday, January 2 at 1:30. A delicious potluck luncheon was served followed followed by a prayer by Nellie Michely and a meditation on the New Year. All the yearly reports were given and there was an election of officers, although not all positions were filled. The next meeting will be on Monday, February 6 at 1:30 attheB.U.C. Ballyduff P.L.A. The Ballyduff Presbyterian Presbyterian Ladies' Aid held its monthly meeting at the home of Margaret Wright on the evening of Wednesday, January 4. "Hands Over Time" There is a new TV series running on TVO (Channel 19) which is featuring Ontario Ontario craftspeople. The show is entitled "Hands Over Time" and the interviewer Joan Rccd-Olscn has travelled around Ontario filming artists artists at work in their workshops, workshops, giving classes and shows. The series started Thursday, January 5 and' will run for 13 weeks. Look for local artists Paul and Bev Williams of Bethany, who own and operate Williams' Design Studio. It was definitely definitely not the time for dieting! Several families told me of their holidays and I pass on their news. Marg and Earl Woatherilt entertained a lot over the holidays. On Christmas Day they shared a Christmas dinner dinner with their sons and their families and other family members and friends. The group included Larry and Laura Weatherilt and their children Nicholas and Amber, Amber, of Millbrook; Glen Weatherilt and friend from Peterborough; Marion O'Brien from Millbrook and Gary Ward and Charlie Weatherilt from the Bethany area. The Weatherilts were joined for supper on Boxing Day by Mr. and Mrs Lloyd Capstick of Uxbridge. On New Year's Day Marg and Earl were joined at supper by Wanda Nichol of Pontypool, Pontypool, Charlie Weatherilt, Larry Larry Weatherilt and family and a friend from Cavan. Dave and Chris VnnDe-. Velde and family travelled to Waterford and Trenton over the Christmas holidays to visit family and friends. Dave and Chris celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary anniversary on December 30.
